Also consider the Goodyear Wrangler Adventure AT - just put a set on my 150 today.

Some family members have them and think they are fantastic on the road (wet and dry) and offroad. The online reviews are excellent (Google them and also http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=ORAT), and I understand they are becoming standard issue with many WA mining companies.

Much quieter than the BFG's on the road and they come with a mileage guarantee (which varies between tyre sizes - the 265/65R17 are only 55000km, but has less conditions than Cooper Tyres). I have found the BFG's tend to get quite hard after 3-4 years and become slippery on wet tarmac (even if plenty of tread left). They certainly last 85-90,000km, but never seem to be as good in their last few years. From what I have read, the Goodyear Wrangler Adventure don't have this problem.

I've only done 50km on these myself today, so can't really comment (other than they are much quieter than the BFG's). Never owned Mickey T's.

I'm really happy with the performance of the STZ. bought our prado with the mickeys already on it a few years back. Put 70k on them in the last 2 years, travelling aus for the last 12 months towing a 2.5t van, sand work, rough tracks and they haven't let me down. You wont be disappointed
Hopefully you get a better price than i got quoted up here in darwin, $450 corner fitted/bal etc

I've just done over 117,000ks on my current BFG AT's. 40% off road, 60% on road ( mainly tollways ). They are still good in the wet or dry, although they became a lot noiser after about 80,000ks. I think they still have about 5 - 6 thousand ks left in them. I will be buying them again. I've never had any other tyres come close to this mileage.

Has anyone fitted the Dick Cepek Fun Country or Fun Country 2? The local goodyear dealer was talking these up the other day when i was getting new tyres on the other car.

i noticed the diameter available in the 17 is either 70x265R17 or 285x70R17 the 265's would be ok with standard suspension however what are the chances of getting away with the 285 with standard suspension or would i be rubbing the tyres?

2 inch lift is coming up in the next month.... finally!! would the 285 be OK once the lift has been done?

285's on standard rims and suspension will rub, particularly on the upper control arms.

              Cheers Andrew

Thanks Andrew, so once the 2inch lift has been done the 285's will be OK and not cause rubbing?

I had the fun country 2 on my old triton for the first 20,000 klms they were great excellent grip in the wet, no road noise, great on and off road we did Birdsville and the cape in them after 20k they stopped gripping in the wet and started singing on the road like a mud tyre, at 25k we started loosing some lugs to the steel belt, and 1 tyre went out of round. got rid of them before 30k. I hope mine were just a bad batch!
currently running mickey t at3 couldn't be happier

285's will still rub on a 120 with 2inch lift.

Yes, sorry I missed that reply. On standard rims they will rub on the upper control arms. Different offset rims or aftermarket UCA's will help but you will also still get some rubbing around mudflaps and guards.

                      Cheers Andrew

You could try 275/65.. Gives you increase height of about 6 mm. I have them with a 2" lift and no rubbing.

265/65/17, 265/70/17 or 275/65/17 all should fit without issue. Anything larger than that and it's not just a straight forward fit up and drive away.

                            Cheers Andrew
