Yeah suddenly interested in new tyres too after this... was a Grand Treck, happened in very light country around Pemberton WA. Almost 40K on them at least.

Thanks wish I knew, first I knew about it was heading on back to tarmac. I guess some of the roads were covered in shade, there may have been a stick in just the right place, but certainly didn't notice anything when it happened.

Mud tyres in general have thicker side walls than other tyres if you worry about that kind of thing. They will be noisier on the road though.

Left on road pressure of just over 30psi, as it was only on the dirt for under 5Km... were just visiting a winery in the area.

Ahh - perfect! Sounds to me you should have grabbed NRMA to come out and change the tyre for you whilst you were sitting on the deck at the local winery with a nice bottle of red and some cheese 'supervising'

Ummmm still deciding McBain... getting some pretty scary quotes for tyres in my neck of the woods (around the $400 mark) so am thinking I may hold off until my next trip down to Perth. Which way are you leaning?

Brilliant idea Metro, wish we had thought of it... although that would have deprived jnr a chance to pay in the dirt.

Too many options!! BFG's if they do an LT in the standard size, or 694's as they apparently doing one soon too...

or i may get lured back to the coopers... but if i do that it'd be with S/T's...

                              too many options i think!
