Yeah suddenly interested in new tyres too after this... was a Grand Treck, happened in very light country around Pemberton WA. Almost 40K on them at least.

Thanks wish I knew, first I knew about it was heading on back to tarmac. I guess some of the roads were covered in shade, there may have been a stick in just the right place, but certainly didn't notice anything when it happened.
Ahh - perfect! Sounds to me you should have grabbed NRMA to come out and change the tyre for you whilst you were sitting on the deck at the local winery with a nice bottle of red and some cheese 'supervising'

Ummmm still deciding McBain... getting some pretty scary quotes for tyres in my neck of the woods (around the $400 mark) so am thinking I may hold off until my next trip down to Perth. Which way are you leaning?
Brilliant idea Metro, wish we had thought of it... although that would have deprived jnr a chance to pay in the dirt.

Too many options!! BFG's if they do an LT in the standard size, or 694's as they apparently doing one soon too...
or i may get lured back to the coopers... but if i do that it'd be with S/T's...
