I have heard this before too, it is the rubber (or the quality of such) that goes into them. Being off road tyres, there is a lot of rubber in them. I had a set of Wrangler ATR's on my old 4wd, and had a bugger of a time getting them balanced properly. Country of origin is stamped on the side wall, I was advised not to buy 4wd tyres made in Indonesia, Malaysia. Japan, Australia and USA are OK... Anyways, I am getting a set of Silent Armours soon..

Re: Goodyear Wrangler - Silent Armour

I have had my Silent Armours for 70,000km and they are still good for at least another 30,000/40,000. Driven mostly on the bitumen and off-road trips a couple of times a month. I religiously rotate all 5 every 10,000km.
