    Hi Dusty,

How did you go about fitting these? Did they come with the nut on a wire thingys? I've just ordered a set off these guys as other places were out of stock or more expensive.

I fitted these and yes they come with wire to hold the nuts although only one of the two bolts on each side need it

Thanks gt3racer. Was it the top bolt or the bottom one that needed the wired nut?

From memory it was the rear most one. The one closest to the front of the car has a captive nut inside the chassis. This was on my car fitted with an ARB bar

            Hey fido666,
As already answered, yep one 'nut on wire' for each side. I've got an ARB bar which had a nut on a length of flat bar that is replaced by this nut. I found the easiest way to get this out is to work it back to were the chassis rails drop down and turn in a bit. There is a hole here which, with the change in angle of the chassis rail makes it relatively easy to remove. I might add it took me about 45 mins to work this out on the first one, but once I did, the second one only took a couple of minutes.
Another thing to, just fit the new nut first, then work the wire so it breaks off, the use this wire to fashion a hook to fish out the old nut. Sounds fiddly, and it is, but beats taking off the bar!

            Good luck,
            Dusty

Well I have a TJM bar so it might be a tad different but we shall see.

I'll be trekking down to the local PO to collect them later today, missed the postie this morning as I was still asleep. I'm not sure when I will get a chance to try fitting them, thought it might be a good job to do in conjunction with my winch install.

Just curious Dusty (or any one else), do these points get fixed through the same holes as the ARB bar mounting and do you have to remove the bolts for the bar prior to installing?

Any chance you could post some close up mounting pics of the bolts?

                    • Hi rwo,
Yes the bolts supplied replace the mounting bolts for the ARB bullbar.

As you can see the bulbar is now sandwiched between the chassis and the recovery point.

Following picture shows the ARB nut (silver) and the one supplied (black).

This next pic shows the hole in the chassis that I used to extract the ARB nut. This pic is of the back half of the driver's side wheel arch.

                      Finally, the fitted recovery point.

                      Hope this helps,
                      Dusty

                      • The postie tried to deliver mine at 9:56 this morning (I was still asleep, late shift yesterday). That's an impressive turnaround time by RoadRunner Offroad considering I only ordered them yesterday arvo!

I picked them up from the PO this afternoon, they are a serious bit of kit.

I’ve had a trial fit by holding them up against the existing TJM bar mounts and it looks like it will work. On the driver’s side there is a plastic bottle of some sort that might interfere and may need to be moved, that’s the only problem I forsee.

                        @Dusty74,

If I've read your posts correctly you pushed the ARB nut to the back of the wheel arch so it fell down the slope and fell out the hole in your 2nd pic? I'm not sure how that pic is oriented in relation to the ground.

I don't know if the TJM bar has the same type of nut but it's worth knowing any good extraction techniques.

                        • Yep spot on, looking at the pic, left is rear.

                          • Cheers mate, much appreciated.

Did you have to support the weight of the bar when removing the bolts (to stop it moving/dropping down) or is it held in enough spots to keep it still?

I'm off to order my set now

                            • Didn't bother supporting it, just did one side at a time and seemed to be alright. Have since clobbered a few roos and hasn't fallen off yet, fingers crossed it doesn't!

You can see the loop of the existing points sticking out below the bar in this one; the recovery points are attached to a crossbar:-
Can anyone tell me if the bolt locations shown on the center bracket are affected should the TJM T13 bar need to be removed? I've hit a snag in the planned winch install and it's looking like I need to get that job done professionally. I'm happy to have a go at the recovery point install but don't want to go to the effort if they have to come off to get the bullbar off anyway.
