  • Course mate, Zordo's Dobinson and Bilstein combo, using Amts' instructions here on PP for diy install. I don't have spring details anymore as it was on the packaging but Zordo (here on PP) will be able to advise.

Edit: bar install by tjm with wiring kit

I'm looking at Zordos package too, I'm curious to know how you think it handles now with the bar and suspension done compared to pre all that work?

      • Well, as you can see it nearly has positive camber in the front as the spring rates were for another ~50kg up front and 300 in the back. So it sits high in the stroke. I would be lying through my teeth if I said it was good or better than oem, it isn't and never will be. For reference the cars ecu noticed the body roll on change to 70 profile tyres which were a ~13mm height increase. Another 50mm was not an improvement, but I didnt buy a 4wd for getting my speeding/awesome handling jollies. That said, when it is pushed and weight is over the front it can still take a corner well, but a high speed gradual sweeper isn't a no brainer anymore.

        • RB80 I am very surprised by your comments. I have TJM stuff on my 150 and it is night and day better than the flaccid blancmange that Toyota fits as suspension. Talk with John I am sure he will be surprised as well and there may be an issue.

What are your heights, rim lip to guard?

          • Cheers mate, I may do so on your suggestion, the firmer springs and damping rates were noticeable, but the higher cg more so. Heights are 805/810 front and 845/845 on the rear, left to right. Starting figs were 755/755 and 790/795. Maybe I should drive an oem again for bias.

            • Wheel alignment could be the culprit. Heights aren't overly high though higher than mine. I am running 265/70 KO2. What tyres/pressures! Has the suspension settled? Positive camber is a no no. Talk with John or send Whitey a pm. Something odd going on. When we test drove a 150 moving from our 120 my wife commented on the suspension and made sure it was being changed!

              • Good points all round, with full transparency I haven't had the wheel alignment yet (& Zordo did say do it asap after install) as have been waiting for it to settle, no excuses there. Currently susp has settled 10mm & 12mm front & rear, not including 15mm of drop with the bar installed. Tyres are toyo open country at2 265/70 ~38psi, pressure advised by tyre shop was 40 from memory, but internet suggested low to high 30s.

Once mid-corner the car feels stable and flat, and same on exit, which is good and in that respect firmer/better than oem to be fair. So my whinge is the light/vague feeling entering a corner, light on change of direction, and light/vague on the st.wheel with a bit of speed (100+), and oddly slow and almost sticky turning to and from dead centre <40kph speed. Which all sounds possibly alignment related doesn't it.

I also rechecked spring & strut numbers and wondering if it could simply be symptomatic of running HD springs F & R (Dobinsons 352/327) without the full planned payload. Resulting in low sag all round, plus maybe too much air in the tyres, plus an outstanding wheel alignment, etc etc, yeah that won't improve handling. Will call Zordo tomorrow to get this thoughts though I suspect he'll reiterate your first point! Cheers mate & sorry all for thread-jack.

                • Wheelalignment I reckon. Now back to some bar work!

                  • When I had my 120 upgraded 7 years ago with OME it came back with that big positive camber and so so handling . I let it settle for a few weeks and got another wheel alignment done to take out the huge positive camber. Chalk and cheese! Handling was fantastic for a 4wd after this and for the next 7 years until I swapped to a 150 [ which badly needs to upgraded.] When I do the 150 I will go for light springs in the rear with air bags for the loaded times to improve unloaded ride. The 120 had 200 kg springs in the rear and they were too hard when unloaded [ most of the time]

                    • Sweet, thanks for the challenge and suggestion guys, car booked in on Friday. Zordo was surprised by my feedback as well, until I mentioned it hadn't seen a wheel alignment yet, then he was not surprised.

                      • Anybody got the TJM Signature (all alloy) bar fitted on their 150 facelift?

                        • Thought i'd give this thread a bit of a bump.

Anyone fitted an ARB summit bar as yet? Specifically a white one on a white prado?

Would love to see a few pics before I decide between the summit or the deluxe bar

                              • Nice Gamble, but yours is a facelift model, so this is the wrong thread. Try the 2014 facelift sticky instead. Shame ARB still cuts off the DRLs
