Rhino also do a set of side rails for the pioneer platform rack. These would be handy for those people who want the convienence of a tray but want to carry longer items.

    http://www.rhinorack.com.au/AccSubCa...ls_503_69.aspx

Anyone know if rhino are going to release the platform rack in black, like they have with the normal tray?

EDIT: Just received a response from Rhino Rack, they have no intentions of releasing a black pioneer platform rack at this stage.

Rhino Pioneer Tray in black for me then I suppose, just hope it fits in the garage!

A side awning will also be installed, maybe a foxwing if I can find the cash any time this decade
That's the exact reason I want a flat tray such as the pioneer to put up the oztent rv5 and other bits and pieces. Also getting the foxwing.

Mentioned this on another thread some time ago when i was looking at them but I am getting custom made alloy racks from Greg @ Roof cage, just near Newcastle. I will be getting them fitted on Saturday 5th May. He now has the measurments for a 150 and can make any style and measurment, alloy ladders and any other additions you like and freight it as well.

I have taken the factory rails off and fitted the ARB one piece steel rail - bought separately from their rack around $140.00 and the tray will be based on fitting to that.

The rack from memory is 2.4m long with just tradesman type sides (no front or rear) and a full width roller at the rear which will just be longer than the tail wing. this will allow for loading ladders & kayaks etc...

He also makes a poleless awning - any size as well, mine will be 2.4mwide x 2m deep... all alloy, which will be fitted on the same day.

by the way the day before I will be at Drifta getting my drawers fitted.....

Once all done I will post plenty of photos during and after fitting... Probably from Stockton beach

I have no association with Greg at all. I've just been looking fro the right set up for a long time now and found his website by mistake. Greg welds ships during the day and makes 4WD alloy products at nights and weekends.... drove up from Canberra to sort out the measurments to get an exact fit. He is a great Aussie bloke and I have been more than happy dealing with him to date. I will also weigh the rack before fitting.

How about a wind cheetah? My mate has one on a G-Wagen and loves it. The website below says they have one for a 150, but the pic is for something with gutters. Might pay to send them an email. Here's a link to the Prado 150 one

                    G'day Dupes68,
what you have is exactly what I am presently looking at getting although I am considering the Rola RBXL bars as they sit lower. Saw a set on a 150 in Croydon (melb) today and really liked the look.

The question I have is, how does the mesh platform attach to the bars?. If it attaches by the perimeter ring then I will have to go with the Rhino bars.

Have been searching through this thread and cannot find any comment on the Rola bars, does anyone have an opinion on them? They are only rated to 60Kg.

Same here Lostdingo2.... A good set of racks is long over due for me.... Getting them fitted this Saturday. The Rack is 2.4m long and the roller should just hang over the tail wing/defelctor thing whatever they are called......

Ladders and conduit during the week & kayaks and camping gear the weekends.... I'll take plenty of pics... Getting a set of Drifta drawers put in on the Friday as well...

Sounds like a good but very practical setup

                            G'day Footoo,

The rack comes with a set of 4 brackets (Rhino call them 'Sportz U-botls - part No. S280, 65mm x 100mm in size). They secure the mesh part of the rack onto the crossbars. You can position them anywhere you like on the rack - obviously the nearer the edge you can get them the better. Hopefully this link will work, otherwise just type in S280 to the search box on the Rhino website. http://www.rhinorack.com.au/Rhinoweb...615_203131.jpg

                            Hope this helps.

                            Cheers

Excellent, thanks Dupes68. Going to go with the Rola bars and the steel mesh, the bars are not quite as wide as the Rhino ones but will still work fine. Will post some photos when I get the bars and rack on.

I planned on using the same bars but wondered how an awning would connect? This is the reason I'm looking at the sport bars so I can attach the foxwing.
