    Hi All,

I got the ARB UVP plates (120 series) after a trip to Marysville last year i totalled the OEM plates, the reason i decided to get the ARB UVP plates as opposed to other brands was simple.

Value for money - i purchased mine from ARB thomastown UVP + Install was $498.00, i did talk him down from $550.00, anyway comparing to some other brands on the market in which you only get 2 guards i could get the 3 from ARB as it included the transfer case guard for the same price as the other brands that were only offering the 2.

Whilst the ARB transfer case guard is as per OEM spec as detailed above the steel is 3mm thick and provides better protection than standard, i am not concerned about the back of the transfer case guard/actuator as my thinking is if im worried about damaging that i have bigger problems to be dealing with.

The weight of the plates was not of concern however for those interested i can happily advise that the added weight of the UVP has not affected the ride height/handling/fuel consumption etc.....

Since having the ARB UVP installed they have been thoroughly tested through the Vic high country/ mansfield/ Mt disappointment/ Toolangi etc plates have received damage but are not bent or distorted badly out of shape.

Overall i rate them highly and would be happy to purchase them again in the future.

End of the day anything is better than OEM protection

Anybody fitted these (or others at home)? Is it possible to swap these without a hoist? I've got a 2" lift but no jacks/stands

I didn't fit mine at home, but a mate has done it. He said it is a lot easier with ramps or a hoist though, unless you are extremely skinny....

I did it at home with a 2" lift and one other guy, no jack or stand. Was a pain in the arse, but not too difficult.

Still have not fitted the transfer case guard. It seems like you need to take alot of bolts out of the transfer case to use to attach the guard?? Having no mechanical knowledge at all, should I be concerned with the transfer case falling apart while I fitted this?

I installed my ARB uvp at home with the car halfway up some ramps. Plenty of room to get under.

My transfer case guard wasn't an easy install. The holes didn't line up at all and had to redrill all of them. Spent more time on that 1 guard them all the rest put together

Transfer case will not fall apart so don't worry about that happening!

All you are doing with the transfer case guard is removing the bolts that hold the original guard on so no issues at all.

You can always run the front wheels up on a couple of pieces of timber to give a bit more height. I replaced my guards by myself without using the jacks and all went to some sort of plan.

Hey Brains and Richo, my V6 150 (facelift) is stock underneath, but with a TJM bull bar.
I am planning on getting bash plates at some stage, but not all in one go to spread out the spend.
First question, Richo probably a good one for you, will TJM and/or ARB bash plates mate up with my TJM bull bar ?
Second question, if I get the Brains Transfer Case Guard now, will the other plates (TJM/ARB) fit in between this and the TJM bull bar later ?

                        Thanks !

                            Hi Pog,

Did mine with a mate with not hoist or stands and the Prado was sock height.
Bit of a squeeze and need to think of where your arms and hands need to be before so you can work the bolts etc.
Having a 2" lift will make it a wee bit easier .
Not difficult at all if I can do it with nil mechanical know how

Maulbeagle, the TJM, ARB and almost any other UVP, starts from the radiator cross-member and goes back. There is usually a separate radiator protection plate that goes from this crossmember up to the underside of the front of the Bullbar.. So it won't matter what UVP you go for as it doesn't meet up with your bar...
