Just thought I would share my fridge mount. When looking at options I found that most use tie down straps which I find are a pain to undo when I want to take the fridge out to use in the caravan / boat / house. Then I discovered a great thing that engel sell called the 'transit slide-lok'. So I bought one and made my slide using 50x3 aluminium angle and some heavy duty locking drawer slides. Mounted the slide lok to the slide and mounted that to a piece of 18mm marine ply that is secured in place using the tie down points. My 40L engel clicks onto the slide in a couple of seconds.

        Cheers,

Which part of the slide is the slide lok? How did you secure the ply to the tie down points? Oh, and why is your Prado lying on it's side? :-)

Just added another photo that shows the slide-lok. Not sure what you means by lying a on its side? Just uploaded from the phone.

The 1st photo has a 90 degree rotation when viewed from my PC, makes the Prado appear to be lying on it's side LOL. It seems to happen when uploading phone pics.

I secured the ply to the tie-downs by removing them and using 2 x M6x50 bolts. I ended up putting in another screw towards the middle of the vehicle to hold it down better though. In hindsight I should have made a floor like SandRunner though. It looks great!

OK, so you used longer bolts in place of the original tie down bolts. I was picturing a piece of ply secured to the tie downs by some sort of clamps or u bolt arrangement, thanks for the clarification.

You've done a pretty schmick job yourself, looks good to me. Do those Slide Loks only work with Engel fridges?

SandRunner, great job, much more neat than mine. Mine was a bit of a rush job before a big trip.

roadblock, how much was the slide lock and what sort of height do you need for it?

I had a crack at making a false floor for my prado after reading this thread!
I made the floor out of 18mm ply wood, originally I used 12 but I found it a little flexible, so I did it again in 18mm. I figure if I'm going to put a fridge slide on it, I dont want it lifting up at the back in between the bolts. For the 18mm ply wood I used the M6 60mm high tensile bolts, because I liked the black and I couldn't get 60mm in zink plated. Dont try and use the M6 galvanised bolts! They will not fit. I also used a big washer under the bolts because lining up the holes for the new bolts to the original tie down point bolt holes was a pain, and I had to make the holes a little bigger than I would have liked.
I'm going to have a shot at making my own fridge slide by ordering my own draw runners......so I'll see how that goes when they arrive.
For now this is how it looks, I'll be adding a slide when it gets here.

The slide runners came a couple of days ago. Took a bit of fiddling around to get it right, but I'm fairly happy with how it turned out.

David what runners did you buy? I would think of doing this in the ute since climbing over the tailgate is sometimes problematic. Good job.
