Yeah. I think you save about 40mm. I wanted my car to be under 2m with my 2" lift which is why I went with the backbone.

With the backbone system does the tray sit lower than it would if mounted on feet?
If so I might have some feet for sale, need as much room as I can get with our garage

X2 Everything can be tied down without the need for the side rails, Plus there are plenty of accessories for gas bottles, jerries and the like. If it's tied down properly, it shouldn't go anywhere...Originally posted by amts View PostI have done without front or side rails. I just used eyebolts and tie everything down.

Hello All.. whilst everyone is ere... I am getting a Pioneer platform this week.. and was wondering if anyone is using the side rails or front rails for it when offroading.. I was thinking of getting a set as I am used to my cage that I had, but am not sure it it will be worth the money.. thoughts?

Not sure the size, but I think from memory that only one size comes with the backbone. $1090 is a great price.

Was that the pioneer rack and backbone for 1090? Which size did you get?Originally posted by rackxp View PostI ordered the backbone today from auto one for $1090. I needed the clearance to be under 2m with the 2" lift.

Just come back from a trip to Townsville and could not hear any noise until I got over 100Kph. Mind you, the awning would make some also.Originally posted by Micko2005 View PostAny issues with wind noise from the backbone, I was told by a retailer they were noisy?

also went with the backbone to keep the height as low as possible for the city carparks

That does look ok, I was looking at the larger size but I think the 19xx by 12xx will work out well. How is the wind noise, and with that setup you have, is it easy to take them on and off.Originally posted by plodder627 View PostWe have the Tradie rack in 19xx by 12xx. Went for the larger size basically to keep our options open and not restrict what we can carry. the open ends make it easy to load/unload and allow longer stuff to be chucked on the rack. with some eye bolts its easy to tie stuff down. we are using the 6 feet supplied by rhino that replaces the rails, they were relatively simple to fit.
The rack sits level with the ground, I think it looks fine but more importantly its a lot more practical to have it this way, and the awning sits level rather than sloping towards the front of the car. cant really see why you would want it sloping with the roof.
