Anyone installed Toyota Factory Towbar

I have found the Toyota bar has the tongue (& tow ball) quite low. Much lower than any of my previous vehicles.
I had to turn the tongue upside down to gain more height.
Allied with the very soft rear suspension, the tow ball drops even further when the trailer is connected.
This needs to be considered when making your choice
Also, the wiring plug on the Toyota bar is placed upside down i.e. the hinge for the opening flap is at the top and the cover plate is at the bottom. Whether this will be a problem in the rain, I'm not sure.150 GXL D4D Auto - Graphite

I have upgraded TJM coils and shocks on my Prado for towing, plus Poly air bags on the rear, and it makes a difference towing a van. If you are only towing a trailer, and don't want to spend too much on a suspension upgrade, at least consider an air bag addition, which should stiffen the rear suspension a bit and may assist with your saggy rear end!!!!!

Yeah all right Yowie, lets just stick to the Prado's sagy rear end and leave mine out of it LOL.
(it is too easy to go off topic I know but fwiw I've pretty much decided to go the std height Tough Dog shocks on std height Kings, with the airbags as you suggested)
Good to hear no water made it into the plug. I wont worry about it but it had me wondering, that's all.150 GXL D4D Auto - Graphite

Guys had my Toyota genuine tow bar fitted the other day, took the tongue out and noticed the anti rattle 8mm bolt had damaged thread in the middle. Checked the thread in the nut welded to the bar and it looked nasty as well.
Went back to the dealer and they ran a tap through the nut and gave me a new 8mm bolt and said there you go all fixed. Now the bolt screws in and seems ok albeit with a bit of play in the thread when you screw it in. Out of interest though I tried a 3/8 bolt and it also screws in.....handy isn't it to be able to use either.....seriously though, clearly the thread is damaged. They claim that this occured due to 'bur' when the bolt was first rammed home with (wait for it) a rattle gun. I personaly think they probably over tightened it first thing with the stupid air gun, but I could be wrong. The rest of the insatall looks first class from what I can see underneath.
At the end of the day I guess it doesn't matter given the task it performs and I guess you could always drill it out and retap at a larger size down the track if needed but it just gives you the X!%?# when you pay $850 for a new bar and they don't take care.2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto

150 Towbar
Hi all just joined here after viewing the site for a while. Great site. I tried a search but couldn't see what I am after.
Can someone please post some photos of how the towbar looks that is fitted by the guys at Wynnum Brisbane. I have read that it does not sit out as much as the factory one. I just want to see if its still possible to fit an anderson plug to it and not have the cable or the plug on the bottom of the bar.
Also, best price I have found so far for diesel auto gx with the factory towbar and cargo barrier fitted is 55, 800. Whats your thoughts on this?
Thanks for any help, John
