Is the 150 showing any signs of cracked inner guards

Yeah works out at around half price for us in the desert. Wasn't aware they were that cheap in the big smoke

Mate.... I don't think there will be any difference between those years as far as the body design goes..... They will be all the same.

Yeah many of the renters are fitted with aftermarket bars. One of the cars I mention had a compressor fitted to the RHS battery bay and it had busted out of it's holes. Might have been let to vibrate loose & neglected though.

I've got a mate who use to work for Sargents Vehicle Hire and he showed me a few pics of a Prado that had about 70k on the clock and lived out west most of its life.... The main battery was basically floating in mid air as it had virtually cracked all the way around. Unfortuately from the pics u can't tell if it was in std form or not. I'll see if I can find out from him but I would assume that it probably would have a bar fitted to it

Lets see wether they say "sorry sir but you have aftermarket suspension in there which has caused the cracking"" what you reckon ?? I hope for your sake not, other wise it will turn into a legal shit fight. Then I would be posting it all over acurrent affairs/today tonight. Maybe see if there is any one else out their that has cracks but with standard suspension will help your cause if they use this excuse ?? Be prepared so you can fire back straight away at them........Cheers Steve

I have access to several 150s with stock suspension, used exclusively in the bush, some with no bar at all but others with Toyota bar. I'll go over them & let you know if any are cracking.

Yep.... AGM's aren't cheap... any chances of posting some pics of your battery setup in the rear??

Will do on Sunday when I get to put the box around it.

Moved the system, new AGM installed, have a spare lead acid now without a home. Hurt the back pocket.

What type of battery is it?? A Normal Lead/Acid battery would be illegal due to the dangers they pose (ie potential explosive gases given off)

I believe a AGM is allowed though......

Moved my battery into the back today. Decided I did not want to wait and see. Now I have to put a box over it so it does not reduce my cargo area too much.

Here is a photo of my crack. Went to Toyota today so have lodged the complaint.

Brains, are you looking at making a support to assist with this problem? I am about to move my battery into the back (which I would prefer not to do) but keeping an eye on all options.

I have spent a lot of time reading American forums about this issue on the FJ and nobody seems to have an answer.

I'll wait to hear back from Toyota, when they fix it under warranty I will see if there is something that we can fabricate to offer more support because I want to keep my battery in the front.

I'll see what Toyota do first, and then look at what to do.
