A few of the 2014 models still used the old design guards, I guess they didn't want to waste left old stock.

I'm new here and have just been browsing this forum. Came across this sticky thread and thought I'd check the design on my 2014 Prado. Appears to have been re-designed to reduce stress concentration in the areas of these cracks. Thought it might be useful to attach for reference.

I was working on my car today and noticed that the cracks originally repaired by Toyota in 2015 have reappeared on the drivers side. In 2015 Toyota both welded and fitted patch kits to both guards and all appeared fine up until today when doing some suspension work we noticed that the drivers side guard had split again. The split is in both patch pieces and the guard in exactly the same area of the original crack.

My GXL 2010 D4D currently has 107,000 KMs IT originally occurred at 55,000KMs in both sides.

Has anyone else had this occur also?

I'm hoping Krypto or others who have fitted the patch kit might be able to give some advice regarding fitting as I dont know how those 4 pieces will attach both patches. When the back of the patch is flush with the innerguard, there is a 16-25mm gap between the top of the innerguard and the patch. Am I meant to use additional bolts to pull the patch in tight and if so where should they go?
I certainly would appreciate any advice or assistance as we are currently in Canberra and we would like to fix it before heading to SA on Sunday . I have tried to download photos but get a whole lote of codes
    thanks in anticipation,

Mate, did you have any luck with the install? I'm also looking to do this as a preventative measure. Can you confirm the parts you ordered were the two plates (53731-60110 and 53732-60060), and 6 pieces of hardware (2x 90176-06042, 2x 90189-06065 and 2x 91671-A0612). That doesnt seem to be enough hardware to mount the two plates. Thanks.

I have recently been shown inner guard cracks on my 2010 ZR Prado by another owner who had a look and informed me of the problem. I have just ordered the parts from Amamya.
I feel the cracks are only newish, as I recently heard a squeaking rattling sound a week or so beforehand, but couldn't track them down.
At least I know and can fix the lroblem as we want to hang onto our shorty for another 10 years.

The guards were improved in 2014, so you should be fine. Just search for cracked guards if you want more info.

Well, I remember reading the cracked inner guard thread 5 years ago..and was an early contributor, having found a guy with cracked guards but no mods. ARB wanted to get in touch with him.
    It's happened.
