    The Recovery Point Install!

    Hi all

OK so we had success. The RoadSafe (#RP-PRA150) is what we bought. I confirm that we successfully installed them both on a Prado 150 VX (KDSS) 2014 model with a ARB Winch Bull Bar fitted.

    It took approx. 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours.

We did remove the front wheel(s) one at a time, to make access easier so that added to the time.

    Drivers Side:

This ended up being the easiest side. The ARB team fitted the bulbar with the nut-tail and this was snapped of just inside the rectangle opening in the chassis. Putting a set of vice grips help this from dropping and after undoing the bolts (one closet to the cabin first - Made the call to leave one in at a time) we were able to easily retrieve it from the chassis with no issues. Then bending the supplied nut-tail in the other direction at the bend than supplied with a another bend 1 inch from the end of the tail to assist turning and then inserting into the opening until visible thru the bolt hole. Then threaded the 12.9 HT bolt into the nut held behind it - not all the way at this point, just enough to still allow the recovery point to be moved into position. Note: we used the existing flat washer and spring was that was on the original bolt as they were more substantial.

Then proceeding to undo the remaining bolt (one closet to the bull bar) and move the recover point into position and thread the last bolt into the existing captive nut in place within the chassis.

Then torqued both bolts up to the ARB recommended torque setting of 77nm. And then refitted the front lower bull bar wings back on noting that due to the fitted bolt being further out, it touched the 13mm bolt holding the bottom of the wing - so we used an additional spring washer (from the recovery pack) to increase the gap and the front drivers side was done !

    Passengers Side:

This was not as easy as the drivers!.. Took a bit more looking and thinking The rectangle hole/opeining as per the other side was mostly blocked by some KDSS gear !

With a bit of poking around we could just see there was another ARB installed nut-tail and followed it and manage to feel it just inside this round hole -

We could not get any grips, etc on it this time, but with another pair of hands available we were able to hold onto to the end of it whilst undoing the rear bolt (again, the one closest to the cabin). Then carefully sliding the tail forward with fingers to the square hole in front of it we could just get the hole full length tail out (i.e. it was not cut).

The new nut-tail was a little trickier to fit and yes after bending it again to suit and having the flat plate of the nut facing up we could just fit it thru the same corresponding hole as we did on the other side, even with the KDSS gear in the way!

From there it was a simple process to repeat the same approach as the other side fitting this and the remaining bolt.

I hope this helps others! Happy to help with any other questions...

    Cheers

ARB now do recovery points, bit expensive but designed to fit with their bars and over engineered to the max

from what I have read on here they may not fit up to the ARB bar.
Thanks... Yeah it seems strange that it is so hard to confirm that there is one that will fit 100% with Arb bbar.

    Hi all

Hoping someone can confirm if the RoadSafe recovery points ie these ones http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=181634228956 will suit a 150 VX with ARB winch BBar? Anyone fitted and If so any issues? (Seems hard to get 100% confirmation elsewhere !)

    Thanks in advance

Points are on at last! Had them installed Friday (8/11) while I waited and had a nice cup of tea (no Latte available LOL). The redesigned points have been out for a few weeks but there was a mixup when my Roadsafe contact left the company and didn't notify me. It's all sorted now at no cost to me except for some fuel so I'm happy. Installation took an hour or so but it was in a workshop equipped with a hoist so that made it easier.

So if anyone with a TJM bar is still waiting to source recovery points you shouldn't have any problems getting them to fit now.

I was contacted today by Roadsafe to organise a test fit of the redesigned 150 points based on our previous failed test fit to my Kakadu with TJM T13 bar, will update the thread once I have seen them.
