Mudflap Problem Solved ?

Called Toyota 2 weeks ago to try to get my mudflaps changed under warranty. I was told that it has to be approved by Toyota head office. 1 week later, no reply and I call to check and the dealer said Toyota had not replied them and told me to call back again. Another week has past and still no phone call from the dealership.
Called again today and they told me something about a newer updated version of the mudflap is due to be released around Christmas and I should call back again then. The service department did say it will be replaced under warranty.
The question is: Did anyone hear about the apparently newer updated mudflaps from Toyota that is to be released in Dec/Jan? Or is the dealership just mucking around and giving me excuses so as not to change the new released mudflaps?

I got a surprising phone call from Toyota today, saying that they'd finally received a set of the new mud flaps and want to fit them to my vehicle.
I had previously reported poor performing original mudflaps and they gave me the old "haven't heard anything about it" excuse... I had resigned myself to the fact that they wouldn't do anything about it until the next service but hey presto, they'll be fitting them next week
I must say that I'm impressed with their follow up skills! Toyota have Definitely won back some brownie points.

VXWesty , let us know how you get on and take note of the length of the mudflaps (before and after) as i recently have had mine replaced and looks like they were having a lend with the rear set as when the wife bought it home there was not a lot of difference , i am yet to go to the dealer to look at a prado with the new mudflaps , even pics so that i have some ammo on my local dealer would be great

I just took a measurement on the original mud flaps: the fronts are 55mm long and the rears are 80mm long. Both measurements were taken from roughly the centreline of the mudflap, starting on the rear facing side where the body moulding meets the mudflap.
I'll post the length of the new mudflaps on Wednesday arvo.

Well - here in the UK my local dealer has had to use this site to get a handle at all on these 'new mudflaps' where the Australian part numbers apparently mean nothing on European Toyota databases.
To be fair my dealer (down to a young woman who my son - who is a parts manager at Lexus knows) - has 'busted a gut' to track them down - and apparently they are now 'backordered' to mid December and will fit 'free' but as not a warranty fix here in the UK (not surprising as we don't have as much gravel and stuff to deal with).
As I've bought three Land Cruisers a Corolla and just two weeks ago an Auris Hybrid from them I should damn well think so!! - but I had to spell all this out!

I've been on a fact finding mission the past few days and this thread grabbed my attention.
I contacted SciFleet in Brisbane to ask about this and they chased it up for me. I learned that the Mudflaps are installed by Patricks after the car lands in Australia. Patricks are now fitting the longer mudflaps to all vehicles. [As an aside, Patricks also install the radios after the car lands in Australia]. For vehicles sold with the shorter mudflaps, you can have them replaced under warranty.
The longer mudflaps are reportedly not welcomed by some 4WD owners as they are more likely to be torn off whilst in the rough stuff. I will be interested to learn if anyone has torn off the longer mudflap.
I did find it interesting that the cars are landed without mudflaps and that they are a local installation. That explains why these longer variants are so hard to find in other countries.
Cheers,

LFaR, I have read some good reviews from some PP members with the new flaps fitted going through some pretty rough stuff. I think it's somewhere in the 150 General area....I'll see if I can find the thread.
Found this on part numbers:
Toyota stopped manufacturing the short ones in production month 06/2011.
The new mudflaps started production in 06/2011
The part numbers: Rear: Right- 76625 60210 - xx xx = colour i.e c0/black etc
Left - 76626 60210 - xx
Front: Right - 76621
Left - 7662
Couldn't find the threads on their perfomance offroad hopefully somone can post more info here in this thread.2010 150 Glacier White GXL D4D Auto
