Hi Bert, yes I have the same part number.
See below.
Cheers Jayden
Be aware this is just for the Diesel, the Petrol version is a different part no but still has the DLC (Diamond Like Coating). I'm booked in for next Wednesday unless the shaft doesn't turn up in time.
Had the tailshaft replaced today along with my 70,000K service (actual Ks just over 51,000). The part supplied was TO3711035A80 (petrol version). There was no charge for labour or the part, just the normal service charge which came to $269.00. Mr Fido picked it up so I haven't had a chance to drive it yet but I can see the part has been replaced.
They'll be getting a call tomorrow though as they didn't rotate the tyres like they said they did and were specifically asked to do. I know because I marked them this morning and they're all still in their original positions. They've also charged for a brake test and didn't provide the report noted on the invoice as being attached.
Edit: Forgot to add that they did not make any comment on the aftermarket springs or rear airbag sensor adjustments unlike what Pearl150 was advised on his service report.
Greased Shaft and said all good, pull out of the service centre and it clunked at the first two sets of lights.
Turn around and went straight back in, put on a bit of a show and now I have a new shaft booked in for Monday next week.
Confirmed PN TO3711060C10 (Diamond Like Coating) to be used.
Well car went in for 12 month service (16k kms) last friday. Tailshaft has previously been greased at 3k, 8.5k ( started clunking after around another 3k kms ) and was playing up again this service. Advised them that it was still clunking. When picked car up was told that it had been regreased again. I asked why does it clunk and was told they all do this but usually get through the schedule service intervals without causing any noticeable clunking. I was asked if the car had been offroad which I replied yes from time to time. I was told that this is the cause of the short duration needed between regreasing. I told them am not prepared to have to come in every 3k kms and have the tailshaft greased. The girl then said then maybe I shouldn't take it offroad and it will be fine. By this stage I had to leave as I was about to blow a gasket which wouldn't have helped anyone. I called today to talk to the service manager and am currently waiting for my call to be returned. I thought Holden/HSV were painful to deal with but looks like Toyota are going to take the cake. To top it all off the tailshaft is clunking again already, only 2 days after it was supposedly greased.
2016 GRAPHITE GXL TD 2.8, ARB Deluxe Winch Bar, 285/65/18, Outback Solutions Drawers, Safari Snorkel, Hayman Reese HD Towbar, Firestone Coilrite Airbags, Bilstein & Dobinson lift, AMTS rear wheel spacer, Redarc Tow Pro Elite, Rhino Pioneer Platform (2128x1236mm) with more to come.
Brock I would be printing every page on here and highlight the parts where its known to be a common problem and how they are being replaced and you would like yours replaced ASAP as you did buy it for road, they promote it for been off road, and also ask them to show where in the service books does it say it needs to be regreased every 3k ??? bullshit.....don't let them get the better of you. They all know its an issue since the bloody first prados were made in 96....Up them for the rent until they replace it for you.....Cheers Steve
