TRC uses the brakes to stop a wheel from spinning .... So if you have a locker one wheel shouldn't spin so theoretically TRC SHOULD be better than a locker but in practice I doubt it

Not sure I follow your logic, wouldn't not having the wheel spin in the first place be better?

From my experience I would say when the going gets tough lockers will out perform traction control, but not by much. The advantage of TC is that it's always there, so it will do it's job in those unexpected moments where you may not have engaged a locker.

TC works well with lockers. Tends to take a bit of load off the brakes. Brakes can get hot so if you are doing lots and lots of lumpy work both are a good choice. I'm pretty sure the reason I warped my discs in the 120 was extended rock hopping. I will be chucking a locker in the back of the 150.

Came across a video of the same prado attempting a climb with TC and again with Locker a while ago, but can't for the life of me find it. Did come across this which reinforces what most are saying. TC is good for most things, but not all, and has limitations (heat build up and loss of momentum). Locker and TC work really well together.

            I don't have TC in my 120

I have traction control (120 Grande). There is no way it comes close to letting me do what the lockers do.

Well the TRC shouldn't allow the wheel to spin at all

I think it has to spin a little bit, otherwise how does the TC know it needs to engage? From what I see the wheel spins maybe a 1/4 turn then the TC kicks in, the locker will eliminate any spin.

I always think back to the 2011 GTG at Landcruiser Mountain Park watching 3 Prado's climb a rugged hill. Quicky in his standard 120 Just got up with massive wheel spin and huge wheel lift, Dobbo in his TC 150 got up relatively easily but was a bit jerky and it didn't sound good, Rev in his twin locked 150 looked like he was on a Sunday drive.

                  Cheers Andrew

Have to agree the traction control on my 150 is an awesome feature but it does have it's limitations. One being creek crossings and mud when the breaks are wet the TRC looses it's effectiveness, but apart from that it's pretty faultless. Low rang first gear at idle it will crawl out of anything !!

Correct, no Crawl Control in the 150 GXL. Hi/Lo, centre diff and DAC are all you get at this level. Leads me to consider the Elocker option.
