Kenny is right. They are meant to go through all of it with you when you pick it up and before you pay.

I would be asking ARB, they installed it. They should have given you a: here a button and this is what it does.Originally posted by ben29150 View PostSo let me start off by saying I have no electronical knowledge at all so this will most likely be a dumb question but... I had ARB install a duel battery system in my new prado but they didn't really explain how to use it... Question 1: Does the ignition need to be on to use the second battery or is it on all the time? Question 2: I have attached a pic of a button that ARB installed and have no idea what it does...
Sorry in advance for my cluelessness.

If ARB installed it they probably used an ARB dual battery kit which uses the SBI12. The switch will manually link the two batteries together so that you can start the car from the auxillary if the main battery is flat. If the switch lights up then it means the two batteries are linked for charging (not sure if they used an illuminated button or not)Originally posted by amts View PostTo me, this tells me that the switch is linking the auxiliary battery together via an isolator like an SBI12. An SBI12 look like this.

Can you see one of these units?

Guest repliedHere is a quote from the user manualOriginally posted by ben29150 View PostUmmm the boost light came on...
When the BCDC1220 is turned on, it will move into the bilk charging stage called Boost stage. Boost stage maintains a constant current until the battery voltage reaches it set point. The current in Boost stage may vary during operation is order to maintain safe operating temperature.

Ben: sorry, I should have been more specific, I was addressing FooToo and BlakMoth, as they were suggesting that the switch allows you to jump start the car from the secondary battery, however unless there is additional equipment installed in your car other than the BCDC1220, then I do not think that that is the case.
I think the switch is for some other purpose, as amts suggests.
Maybe go and ask the question where you got the install done, as really, the switch could be for anything and you won't be 100% sure unless you trace the wiring back or ask at ARB.
Cheers,

Guest repliedIs it the switch to select what the battery type is for the BCDC1220 charger? When you push it, check the LED lights on the BCDC1220. Does it change to another battery type?

Isiman I have no idea what you said?? Is the button for start the car from the auxiliary? From what people are saying, the auxiliary is on permanently so any accessories will work even when car is off?

maybe, maybe not?
I didn't think that the BCDC1220 had an override, maybe there is an SBI12 (or similar continuous duty solenoid in the play)?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

The auxiliary battery charges when the engine is running, you would normally connected all your
accessories to the auxiliary battery so in this case it is always on.

Yeah it pushes in and springs back. Makes a clicking noise in the engine bay when it's pushed in...
