  • Switch Mounting Issue

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out, i just installed a set of spotties on my car and the switch that came with the wiring harness is a lot larger then the spare spots that toyota has given. So I was just curious as to what you do to fit them as i was looking at the ARB type Rockers and they also seem large aswell. Im not really too keen to start cutting out the hole if there is a much better alternative.

If you are talking about the standard recatngular blanking plates then most people just use a file to caefully enlarge the whole to allow the switch to fit. I've got a 120 and have fitted a couple of the ARB style Carling Contura v3 Rocker Switches. Needed a little bit of filing to widen to allow the switch to fit. Blanking plate still fits if required alrough slightly loose but wont fall out.

The 120 switches (or blanks) are larger then the 150 and you need quite a bit of cutting / filing to make it work. Narva make a switch that is a perfect fit, I am sure it is the 63010BL switch and it costs about $6.00. Link here to the Narva website. http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/standard

      Hope this helps, cheers Daniel

arh ok, ya I wasn't 100% sure what other people did, as i had seen a only a few photos of switches that had been installed into the blank spots and the ARB ones seemed quite big pretty much reducing the amount of switches that can be intalled.

If the switches are the same as those used in the 120 you can purchase
after market copies of the OEM fog light switch. Looks much more professional
          than none OEM swtiches

Our lighting harness includes a switch that fits the Prado 150 and LC200. Sorry I don't have them loose only in the kit which actually makes it easier to fit due to the fine pins on the switch.

Should have mentioned Newpro have both 120 & 150 as well as other OEM style switches,
                  that match whats already their.

You can also use a permanent black marker to alter the switch symbols slightly to give
you different symbols for different functions. These switches will fit in any blank position
though you will might have to remove the key tab on the switch mech as the switches
are normally keyed so that they only fit in the correct spot in the switch panel.

I have used these for, my driving lights, rear work light & water in filter alarm cut off.

                  Cheers

Even buying them as a 2-pack, they still cost $25 each. Derek's kit cost's $30, comes with an identical looking switch and a wiring harness for driving lights. Seems like much better value for a one-off purchase.
                    My 2 cents worth.

                    cheers

Sure do Paul. TJM Geebung has them on the shelf, I need to go there today and pick up one for my reverse camera setup.

                        Daniel,

I think I tried one of these switches for a test fit, did you have to do a bit of modification to the switch or hole to make it fit?

I like these. You need to use a dremel to cut way inside the hole but pretty easy and they are a perfect match ofr the ARB locker switches. Check my build for more.

Bit of a grave dig here guys but didnt want to start a new thread.

Does anybody know whats going on with newpro these days? The website says out of stock for 150 switches but more designs coming soon which could be good...but its been like that for a while. I've already got my spotties wired up with a 150 'factory' switch from another supplier but its a pretty shite switch...it keeps getting stuck in as its a tad too big. The solution would be to file the edges of the switch which would ruin it or round out the hole which is not something i really want to do with a brand new car. If im paying for a 150 'factory' switch i want it to fit perfect.

Do those of you with the new pro switches have any issues with fitment?
2013 (12 build) GX Auto.......with safari snorkel, toyota bar, tow bar, roof racks, led spots with fancy newpro switchgear, uniden remote UHF and aerial, ARB bash plates, Roadsafe recovery points, digoptions radio, general grabber AT2s, cheap ebay roof rack that has stood up surprisingly well.....
