Hi
I have a 2010 GX diesel which has recently started to go into limp mode and displays an error code on the Scangauge of "P0093". The description of this code is "Large Fuel Leak". The first few times it happened, I was able to stop and restart the engine and all was well. I would then clear the fault code on the Scangauge.
Last week it happened again and I stopped and restarted the engine, continued driving and then it happened again after about 100 metres. No amount of stopping and restarting would get it out of limp mode. I had no choice but to put the car on a tow truck and get it to a Toyota dealer.
I just had a phone call from the dealer saying that the fuel pressure was lower than expected and that the fuel pump, injectors and common rail assembly need replacement. They haven't yet removed these parts so they are unable, at the moment, do say what caused the failure. They have quoted $4.5K for parts and $1.1K labour!! I'm now stuck between a rock and a hard place. If I don't pay, I have a hunk of metal which is of no use.
Has anyone heard of or experienced this type of problem? Does their diagnosis and prognosis seem plausible? I realise that it's out of warranty but surely such a catastrophic failure should raise doubts on the "marketable quality" of the vehicle.
I will be contacting Toyota in an effort to get them to come to the party financially. Does anyone have a contact who may be able to help me?
I'll keep the forum updated.
Mike
