+1 on this, I can see someone damaging the belt (new one or old) with a pry bar trying to compress the tensioner.

I'd have to agree with aussie andy regarding the removal of the neg lead. Just leave it on for this one no need to remove it.

I would still suggest to people to mark their belts with a pen even if buying genuine as the marks on the belt are difficult to see once installed on the pulley. Its a small certainty.

Where you guys able to see the attached pic with instructions on how to reset the T-belt warning light? Still getting to know how this forum works.

Got the bill yesterday. $798. Oil/filter, air filter, fuel filter (engine bay one), water pump, timing belt kit, extras (negligible cost), labour. Not too bad but still painful!

            Cheap!

Agree re; leave fuel pump!, remove tensioner! Disconnect battery! Easy.

Although I don't disconnect batt, but I take they key out & I'm on my own so nobody is going to write off the engine, correct procedure is cheap insurance for d.i.y.

You got a good deal. Materials alone would have been around at least $400 if you had to buy them retail from Toyota.

I was shocked to see a water pump is only $90 for the part. $309 for the timing belt kit. I know the water pump didn't need doing but they were in that part of the engine anyway at the time so may as well.
