    Hi Gurilla,

I would be surprised if you hadn't had any regeneration since new. In my case the regeneration will run at 300km-ish interval.

Unless your prado is the perfect sample of effective passive regeneration, you should have experienced some regenerations however you just didn't feel it undergoing.

    Cheers,

Thanks Faulco, I will try to ask my dealership to enable custom mode for me at 18 month service point.

    Cheers

    Had mine done last week.
The Custom Mode message on my 2018 GXL is actually a message not a flashing DPF symbol.
The first regen occured 358Kms after I left the Dealer. It took 10Kms to complete. All at city speeds.

The message seems to come on immediately the DPF saturation reaches 100%, and turns off at 6%. The DPF temp was still very high so the regen got down to 4%.

Mr. Toyota has approved a DPF button and am booked in for the install in a couple of weeks, under warranty I believe.

For what it's worth, the dealer called me to say the car was ready to collect but that they were unable to enable Custom mode. I replied that I was in no hurry, and told them to keep it until they had. They rang back an hour later to say they'd worked it out. It wasn't until about ~300km later when the message popped up on the display that I was able to confirm they actually had, and not just fobbed me off to get the car out of their workshop.

thanks vxowner18 . reading the letter with the recall, leaves me with the impression the RPM will wind up to 1200RPM and the "regen in progress" message will stay on during a burn. obviously I was wrong...... or I cant read

    Hi Bing,

Mine is Jan 18 build VX, does not have the "Regen in progress" message staying on, 3000km post ECU update, still burns every 270-300km-ish, RPM increases to 800-900 during the entire burn, but obviously faster than ever before, didn't see more frequent burns, didn't see higher burn temperature either (via Torque App) as pre TOYOTA service guy advised "more and hotter burns".

    Cheers,

hi. its been 650km since my ECU update. ive not detected the usual RPM increase to 950 as in the past, during a regen. Mine is a vx with the custom message enabled. so no message or warning light or RPM increase. i would have thought over the last 650 km i would have experienced at least 2 passive regens. For a post ECM update what RPM increase have others experienced? Just to confirm with others who have the function enabled, the "Regen in progress" message stays on for the entire burn i.e 20-30 mins
    thanks.

Mine is an early-2018 GLX but I get the same "DPF regeneration in progress" message as on dBC's Kakadu (though the rest of the screen contents are different of course). I've never had any dpf light flashing to indicate regen. The "DPF regeneration in progress" message has started showing since the ECU update and switch install.

2018 Prado has a slightly different MID display. I'll try take photo next time it happens.

BTW. Everyone who has posted on here regarding regen time. Please take into account time that it takes to burn not km's as of course if you are travelling at 100km/h and the burn takes say 10 mins then you would have travelled far more km's at 100km/h than say 60km/h. Too me it looks like the regen is similar for both speeds with respect to time. What I have notice with the new version the temp stays in the mid to high 500's for about 70% of the regen and then starts to increase to around the 700deg mark towards the end no matter what speed you are doing. Fingers crossed theyy have finally resolved the issue.

Mine's a 2016 Kakadu. I see from your signature yours is a VX. All the guides I got with my letter seem to suggest the VX and Kakadu have the same multi-function display system.
