Anyone else experienceing the same issues?
    Hi Dave,

Could the rise be caused by the high winds we've had the last few weeks?

My last tank read 8.3 l/100 for 951k, including about 100k towing ~1t camper. That's off the computer.
Previous readout was 8.7 for 1200 odd k.

I filled to the brim yesterday so can check the computer accuracy at next fill.

    ciao

Interesting Wooley ! I am probably going to get it done at the 20k service, though the current setting doesnt annoy me.

        • Stick a bullbar, spotties, raise it 50mm and roof racks on it and that cruising speed drops to 90kph, it goes from low 9's to 10-11 at 100 or over.

          • Here is our example, 2011 VX auto stock as. 30 000k already
the pic showing under 7/100 was taken in the outback. We managed this several times even after traveling all day We cant keep up @7/100 in traffic or 4wding.
Our averages for the entire outback trip was 8.8 worked out with a calculator not the computer. We were fully loaded with the usual gear.
7000 kilometers 3000 on dirt. We did some great tracks like oodnadatta to dalhousie and the back roads from ularu to alice, finke etc.. awesome trip and we love the prado.

I have also noticed my fuel consumption has increased after the upgrade of the ECU for the transmission.
I have asked if it can be changed back but no reply yet

                • Bloody hell,

Some heavy reading here. So... I am looking at trading in the V6 or selling private sometime next year. Reading this thread tells me the Auto is 'nice' but has a few electronic issues and towing probs. I am aiming at a manual D4D 150 GXL, for a mix and short to and from work commute, some off roading and very long distance touring, I think the manual would be the go ?

                  Thoughts ?

                  • No towing issues with the Auto D4D just a few other minor annoyances. Recommend you stick with BP diesel and take out the 3yr extended warranty though to protect against future injector issues as the common rail system has been known to be problamatic in some cases.

                    • Hey Matt dealer told the other day that the manual in the gxl is going to be deleted, not sure it might have been only the petrol? I think. But would pay to check.
Go the auto anyhow, easier to drive.

Mine also won't come anywhere near these figures. I thought it would have been because of the lift & all the gear I have.

But maybe it's a Nth Queensland thing???????????

                        • Just done a trip from Melbourne to Adelaide and back and could only get 10.5 l/100, with no load, the boss and 2 kids, and keeping under the speed limit. Seems disappointing compared to some of the previous comments....

                          • Some of the figures, like the photo of 6.5l/100 are amazing. I can't get that driving on a flat road at 60!

                            • Currently sitting on 9.3 with the hesitation mod applied combo city/semi-rural driving. I only use S mode but the misses uses D. A bout of short trip city only driving can make it jump to 11.2.

All figures as displayed by the trip computer using fuel economy since last refill, so probably about 1ltr/100km out i.e. 9.3 is really 10.3.

                                Hi Matt,

It looks like you're not towing so that will make it easier for the clutch. The clutch-life might be the only consideration.
I'd imagine they are heavy enough to last several years but I don't know about today's build.

A follow up for my previous readout:-
                                filled up today, to the brim, 139 L for 1307 k = 9.4 k/l = 10.64L/100 (The computer fibbed a bit saying 9.8L/100.)

This was achieved with 646 k towing the camper at ~1050kg, 60L Waeco in boot, and 3/4" lift to Prado, with ECB Alloy winch bar, dual batteries and snorkel.

The route was mainly highway at 95 to 105 kph but mostly flat; about 100k was undulating back roads (bitumen) and 100k cross-town traffic.

                                HTH's

ps The economy helps make up for the pita huge back door!! LOL
