Picked mine up yesterday and noticed the vibration at 1500 on the way home. Not too noticable at this stage (I was really listening for it because of this thread) I will keep an eye (ear) on it to see if it gets worse.

I had the same problem on my trip from Adelaide to the Daintree, North QLD. I did 9000kms in three weeks so the vehicle got a thorough working over. Anyway I had a similar vibration/buzz at 1500 rpm so on my return I took it the local dealer and he fixed the problem quick smart. Turns out it was a headlight vibrating, with the energy produced by the vibration making its way into the cabin. It was the third vehicle they had in the last month so the fixed it in record time. kieranol, who was the Toyota dealer who fixed the problem as no dealer in Sydney seems to know of this problem let alone how to fix and I am reluctant to be the Ginny pig.

I also had vibration in rhs of dash at 1500 rpm from day 1..
Dealer took 2 days to pull out the dash.they did a good job.
ended up being the right hand side mudguard. Rang toyota customer experience and reported it.
they said no bulletin from toyota on the issue. could have saved a lot of work for a 2minute fix .
now I can move onto the next problem of the mudflaps.

I am in Adelaide. The dealer was Graham Cornes Toyota on Belair Road Hawthorn. You may be able to get a lead as to what the problem was and their solution from a phone call. Lets hope we are talking about the same problem. Hope this helps !

Sent an email to Toyota Aust today regarding the problem of vibrations between 1500 & 1650 RPM on my T/D 150.
Stated I am very concerned this may cause undue wear and tear and possibly be a safety matter.
My locoal dealer was unaware of this vibration matter and I asked to have it officially logged both at the dealership and T/Aust.
Will have the 1000km check in about a week or so and they will inspect it then.

Any information I get back I will of course post here

The noise appears to be coming from the middle of the dash (right behind the instruments) in my Prado, is this the same for anyone else?

I tried listening outside with the window down going slow in a back street the other day and it does sound like a noise is also coming from the driver side front guard but it is difficult to tell whilst drving and listening at the same time.

I had a quick look under the bonnet and there is some plastic trim across the front that meets another trim going back to the windscreen which looks like it could vibrate where they meet and create a noise but I can't understand how this transfers back to the centre of the dash (in my case anyway).

I have just started to experience this after returning from the snow. Always at around the 1500rpm and seems to be worse when on a hill.

Have called the salesman at dealership and they will call me back with update.He said he had not heard of anything to date.

I have had similar experiences with the vibration and rattles in the vehicle.At the 10,000Km service,finally toyota service centre conceded there was a rattle diagnosed.Ordered plastic packer strip for right hand guard,will call me when delivered to fit.In the mean time had safari snorkel fitted,low and behold rattle has dissapeared.Still have vibration,but no rattles (expensive fix).This fix leads me to believe maybe the rattle might have something to do with the air box reffering the noise through to the dash.No more rattling at 1400-1600 RPM.Vibration is another issue now,can notice coming throgh seat and through floor on acceleration at this rev range.Anybody experiencing same problem?

I took my SX in today for it's very first 1k service and reported the rattle at 1500rpm. This is what they wrote on the inspection sheet when I picked it up tonight (and the rattle is gone !)

Investigated report of rattle at 1500rpm in 5th gear. carried out inspection and detected rattle from RHF of dash area, removed some dash and interior trim pieces and located noise in wiring harness protector cover under dash. insulated cover and road tested, now all ok.

Most importantly did they actually manage to fix the vibration or just write it on the report? If they did manage to fix it, can I ask who the deler was?

Hi, yes, the rattle appears to be gone.
I am in Brisbane, the dealer is Southside Toyota 59 Logan Rd Woolloongabba 07 3008 6477 and the guys name on the service sheet is Toby Wild.

You guys are just busy adressing the symptoms, if you don't address the source (root cause) of the vibration something else will start vibrating or breaking.

Why is it only at 1500 rpm? Is there a balancing problem with the engine? Did they change something to the design of the crank/balancing shafts between the 120 and the 150? Is the vibration there when you put the vehicle in park and rev it up to 1500 or only when driving, i.e entire drivetrain is also turning?

Don't accept Toyota just eliminating the symptom they must find the root cause or you will have further problems, maybe after your warrantee period.
