I've noticed the 2.8D (newish vehicle 12k km) seems to take quite a long time to come up to temperature, particularly on these cold mornings. For example this morning with outside temp of around 2 deg it took about 4km before the gauge started to rise and then it only reached about 1/4 of the scale. Not until about 10km (and after a reasonably long hill), did the temp reach the normal halfway point of the scale. It then stayed there.
This is with semi -rural driving of about 80kmh and no stop/start. At first i thought the thermostat might be open but the temp does reach normal and then stays there, previous experience with other cars and faulty thermostats, saw the temp fluctuating depending on load, or not reaching normal at all. So i don't think it's the thermostat - it may very well be normal for this engine.
Are others seeing similar temperature rises?
