Hi all, I have a 2017 VX Prado which is very heavy on fuel, about 14.5-15 L per 100k (actual) allowing for highway and around city driving. Off road varies depending on conditions so ignoring that. Have put on KO2 tyres, snorkel, bull bar, UVP and duel batteries which will affect fuel consumption but way over everyone else I know with similar mods and more than a mate with beefed 200 Sahara with a lead foot! I have raised it with local dealer and they have conducted tests, took it up with Toyota Australia who raised it with local dealer so that went nowhere. A manual DPF was installed by Toyota but that does not help reduce fuel consumption. Have been really happy with it off road, Cape York etc but peeved off every time I fill up. Have had satisfaction in talking two work colleagues out of buying a Prado and I went for a Ford Everest for a work car instead of another Prado so that is three sales missed by Toyota. All Toyota say is that the fuel consumption “is probably somewhere within the tolerances they would expect”, what a crock of ……
Wary of doing anything to jeopardise warranty but if anybody out there has any suggestion please let me know on Prado Point, in the meantime I will continue to bag out Toyota Australia and their extremely poor customer service.
