Having a similar problem except my car is a manual. First noticed around 9K and very intermittant. Seems more like a miss than a hesitation. The car has 12k now and has happened at least 5 times. Sometimes a slight miss and other times a pronounced cut out. Has happened when cruise control engaged and also normal throttle. Changed the fuel filter 2 days ago and still miss fired once yesterday. I am using a scanguage and no error codes logged. I will disconnect the battery today and try and reset the computer. Very reluctant to take the car to the dealer as they always deny that a problem exists.

Hi there,
I had problems with the engine "Missing", cutting out whilst on my last interstate holiday.
Had the car serviced at 12 months & 15,300 kms, thinking a new fuel filter may rectify the problem. The Dealer said no problem picked up by "The Computer", just keep driving it as it won't break down & you won't do any harm.
On the fourth trip to the dealer, the vehicle was becoming quite unsafe to & un nerving to drive due to these "Cut Outs" which "The Computer" could not detect, but I could. The mechanic who tested it this time agreed with me, the engine had a major problem.
The fuel pump was replaced at 18,000 kms & the problem seems to be rectified, however I've lost confidence in the vehicle & Toyota in particular.
First Toyota 1969, last Toyota 2010.
Tar Trek.

Hey guys
Sames fault.
Took it to dealer and he said it is a know fault and I would be notified when a fix was developed.
Unfortunately no time to discuss when I picked it up. 10,000k service due next few weeks and I will making time to discuss this at length with the dealer.........'NOT HAPPY'.
Will post any feedback I receive.

I have just noticed this flat spot in my 2010 Manual Turbo Diesel as well..
Occasionally hesitating at around 2 - 2500rpm especially on a freeway...
I have called three dealers who said there is no problem and just keep driving it...
What dealers are you going to, to log the complaint - i have spoken with Stewarts , Mosman and awaiting Sydney City to call me back.
Cheers

Finally took the car to the dealers service dept. They checked for error codes and of course found none. Apparently I am the only person that has the problem. No other customers have reported anything similar.
Asked about their policy on problems created by dirty fuel and was advised they have no control of what goes into the fuel tank so any repairs done because of dirty fuel was at the customers expense. I then discussed the performance of the filtration system and the fact it was not up to the job if they had no confidence in its ability to protect the fuel system from contaminants.
Rather than put the standard filtration system to the test, I will investigate the fitment of an extra filter/sedimentor with a transparent bowl and hope to catch anything that shouldn't be there.
The problem has been reported and will be followed up with advice on further incidents.

Well Gents, I too can say that I have this issue, predominately when on cruise control (150 D4D Manual 12/2010) slight hesitation. It happens to me on one section of road in particular every day on my way to work, has not been anything more than a slight hesitation at this stage, annoying none the less. Car has 32,000km's on it and only been noticing it for the last 18,000km's or so. Have not bothered mentioning it to Toyota as yet but definitely will next service.HAD 08 D4D Auto with a few goodies - HAD 150 D4D Manual with a lot of goodies - CURRENT Vehicle 2006 1KZ Manual - about to fit full 3" Exhaust - Steinbauer Chip - Rhino Pioneer Platform - Ctek DC-DC & Optima dual battery - Baintech distribution Panel - Anderson plug to rear - Uni Filter - Snorkel - In dash GPS, reverse Camera, DVD etc - DVD in headrests for the kids..... and the remainder of wishes will have to wait!

Whenever I drive from home to Taree the same hesitation occurs in exactly the same spot near Johns River. Just before the overpass there is a slight dip in the road where the throttle backs off ( on cruise ) and then opens when starting to come up the rise. This happens on every trip. Perhaps there may be a fuel mapping issue with the computer. Seems to be more apparent when using the cruise control. Less apparent on normal throttle but still happens daily.

Hello,
i've had same issue from new and discussed the problem with the service manager. his answer was "it's drive by wire" meaning the throttle is indirectly controlled via a computer hence the delay. what i'm interested to know is, does adding a chip like "Chipit" or "Steinbauer" eliminate this issue?
cheers,
