Yep.... We also had the "Re-flash" done to the ECU for the Auto and it's definitely made the car a much nicer vehicle to drive.... as far as economy goes... will have to wait and see.....

Had the software upgrade done yesterday during the 30K service to get rid of the flat spot. Since I live in a hilly area, the same corners on upslopes will cause the flat spot every time. Came home yesterday and the flat spot is still there but probably 75% better. The Engine does not drop the RPM's as much as it did. Still a little disappointed with the outcome though.
Is anyone else thats had the upgrade done experiencing the flat spot still?

i've had mine updated and had the same issue as you Davad. i mentioned this to the service manager and he said it had to do with "drive by wire". there will always be some delay as the information gets processed by the electronics.
my experience is there's a marked improvement. better than the last times when coming up to a roundabout entering into traffic, the delay nearly made me sh@t - cars are coming up fast and i'm still drifting! arrghh!i like rock and roll... in my Prado.

Well Bert, interesting that your saying the same thing. The "drive by wire" is just an excuse. The old 120 series had no issues. The Rev's do drop and the transmission is not changing gears. On certain corners with the upslope, can still get the vehicle to drop Revs everytime and thats driving the same corner differently.... feathering the throttle, up her a bit, etc, she will do it. When feathering throttle can get it so the Revs sit at 2300 while climbing slope and then just so gently push it a touch more and then RPM drop, the transmission stays in the same gear the hole time.
Mind you it is better than it was but should not have this at all. Next service will suss out again.

Aahhhhh, sorry to regurgitate an old thread, but just had mine in for 60k service and despite being told they didn't do anything to the tranny the dreaded flat spot has come back with a vengeance, happening a lot more regularly and for longer, so bad even the Missy's made comment on it. WTF!!!!!!! Toyota.
I complained about a slight hesitation and was told it has already had the auto flashed, so I'm wondering did the first year press a wrong button on the ECU check tool and stuff something up.Kev,

Had it in today for new prop shaft and took the workshop foreman for a spin. Naturally it didn't replicate while he was on board, but has suggested they will reflash to factory spec and go from there. Has something to do with it learning how you drive, which sort of makes sense as mine is a 2010 with 60k on it and it drives totally different to the 2012 GX I drive as a work car.
I was going to ask them to rest to factory anyway, we'll see how it pans out this arvo.Kev,

Well either didn't do the reset or it didn't work, plan B ask an auto trans specialist.Originally posted by Kev7762 View PostHad it in today for new prop shaft and took the workshop foreman for a spin. Mine had a reflash last service again with the updated version. It is probably the worst it has ever been and the missus is complaining about it now. Going in for the 50k service tomorrow so will get a reflash again. Absolute gut full of this problem. Only year and a half to go and she's gone....

I wrote an email to the service manager complaining about the flat spot, no reply for a few days and then another fella replied and said that service manager has gone but he looked into my issue and said there was no record of any updates been done to my vehicle. Told me to drop it around again and get the engine and trans updated. Missus went down there last week and they had it for 30 minutes. So after 7 days the car is going perfect, cannot get it to flat spot at all. Now when going around hairpin uphill and rpm hits 2400 it really gets going. Have to say best the car has gone.
Let's just hope it stays like this. Bit confused with all the other re flashes that were meant to be done.... This other service fella did say that each time a re flash is done a record for it goes against the vehicle and they get $35 from Toyota for carrying it out. They have missed out on a lot of money because it was not being done/recorded.
