    To answer the JohnLynn's question.

I have a mid 2018 update Prado VX with 120,000Km.

I received that letter from toyota late October 2024. For various reasons I could not do anything for a while after receiving the letter. I think I eventually booked in December for it to be done in late January.

No problems or questions after showing the toyota letter. The story I got was that the DPF and 5th injector were replaced and that it would take a few weeks to order the parts/kit. This was from one of the people at the dealer that I normally trust.

I have just had the parts replaced a fortnight ago. Was an all day service but included regular maintenance service at the same time.

5th Injector housing definitely is new, and pretty sure DPF/Cat converter has been changed as well. (A bit harder to see down there but no surface rust on DPF/Cat Flange and new bolts and gaskets I think. Pictures I took before change show normal surface rust on that flange.)

Have not gone far enough to get a regen yet but car was delivered with 0% soot showing on the scangauge. I was told that they had forced a regen as a test and was all good to go. Time will tell.

    Cheers

Here's a fun one that'll rock your socks off! So my 2015 Prado with 270,000 klm's has always been serviced but not through Toyota so I thought, hey let's take it to Toyota for a service and see if there's been any recalls and lo and behold, they offer me a new DPF but apparently I have to wait about 8 weeks whilst it's on back order! Not bad hey! A nice new DPF for my Prado with 270,000 clicks on it!! Thanks Uncle Toyoda

Last week, I had my 2019 Prado serviced and the DPF replaced, as per the letter from Toyota. Low DPF% registered by my Torque Pro app after collecting the vehicle.
I am currently doing a trip with my van and everything seems to be going ok. Although during its first DPF burn since the replacement (while towing), the extra fuel usage during the burn seemed higher than normal when towing my van. Not sure though. Something that I will observe in the future travelling.

In a 2019 Prado? I thought they got the DPF problem sorted out with the release of the 2018 model?

23/42020 is apparently the critical date. All those before then back to 1/10 2015 had the faulty dpf according to the court judgement.

Anyone here receive an email from Deloitte about the fact that taking up Toyota's offer to have the DPF replaced may impact payment from the class action? I received the email on the 21st and cancelled my booking with the dealer for the DPF until the class action progresses. I've not had an issue with the DPF, was just going to get a free replacement after 6 years and 150 000km.

B CORRESPONDENCE FROM TOYOTA REGARDING DPF REPAIRS
3 You may have received a letter from Toyota in around October 2024, inviting you to take your Relevant Vehicle to a Toyota Dealer to have the defective DPF system in the vehicle repaired.
4 You should be aware that if you take up Toyota’s invitation to have the DPF system in the vehicle repaired, Toyota will argue in this class action that you will lose any entitlement to be paid money for reduction in value under section 272(1)(a) of the Australian Consumer Law, something which Toyota did not include in their letter.

Yes, I saw that. Makes you wonder about what happens to those who had faulty dpf replaced much earlier.

Yeah, that is what I thought when I bought my Prado. I had aware of the earlier problems.
My vehicle had no problems but contact with my dealer said that they would replace anyway. I took a risk adverse approach to avoid potential problems that might occur at a very inconvenient time.

Anyway, replaced now and no problems so far, as expected.
Another letter regarding the class action was received this week. No action as no DPF problems with my vehicle.

I got a letter recently which among other things said that if you had a Prado/Fortuner/Hilux in the affected date range and had joined the class action and sold it, you would no longer be elligable for compensation. I traded up from my Jan-2017 GX to a 2023 GXL 5 months ago, so no payout for me.

My 2015, 70,000Km prado is stood up again as I am back in the UK, but someone read to me what I think is the same letter as above. My issue is that the dealers I visited around Perth would not do anything unless they detected anything wrong. I visited four dealers and not one of them offered the provide a new DPF. So wtf is going on? it seems like they would check it if I took it to them but not necessarily replace the dpf yet if they check it this would automatically allow Toyota to side step the class action?
