See ya on the tracks, Richo.
richo , my 120 stock runs best on 98' shell ' , k&n filter, power plugs. and as per build up, but set up as a light rig, for unpacked as to speak,
hope to put the rigs up one day to prove my point, "pradopoint style" the 98 ron is the go if its a weekender... and TASSIE 2015 here i come, brace yourself for V6 domination, 120 series

Picked up my 2012 V6 on friday and did ~600km over the weekend. Pretty happy with fuel economy. 10.2l/100 sitting on 100-110 hwy driving. Total for weekend was 11.8L over 600km with 400km hwy, probably 20-30km sand and rest around town. 2 people + camping gear nothing on roof or towing and stock car.

Only confusing thing is the cruising range shows only ~800km on full tank.

Well, I have a 2.7 since here dealer just sells d4d and 2.7, sorry to forget the state of the art 5le, highway I get 8.0-8.2l/100km around 100-110km/h and city 14-14.8l/100km, off course this is what computer shows, if its real seems great for a petrol

My fuel consumption is similar to what other have quoted above, but I think I would still go for the petrol over the diesel if I was shopping for another Prado today.
The petrol is just so much nicer to drive around town compared to a diesel, and the cost between the 2 is not really that great when you factor in servicing costs etc, not to mention the actual price of the vehicle. I recently had a comment from a friend who was very surprised at how hard they go for a heavy 4wd.
Better economy would always be better, but the extra power for me is hard to beat...

Just got back from 15k trip around Oz towing a caravan with a roof rack and dual battery and lift. Average was 20.1 litre per 100. I have spoken to others towing with the diesel who are quoting around 17 with slightly smaller vans and no racks. Suggest a figure of 20% difference between the petrol and diesel. If I have no rack and not towing 12's are the norm and if I try hard high 10's or low 11's are achieved. The wife loves the power of the petrol and having driven both anybody that tells you the diesel drives better has not driven the Petrol.

I just bought a 2014 gxl with 47,000kms. It has standard size highway terrain tyres which I put 45psi in, I installed a k and n filter the day I bought it and it has only seen 91 octane from the original owner. When installing the filter I saw a massive restriction in the air box which I cleared with a hole saw, the stock air box has such a small opening for the size engine. I achieved 10.2l/100 on a 40 minute motorway run and have just finished my first tank with an average of 12.8l/100 for work commute. I will post results after using 95 octane. The obd2 reader shows me when you are driving and you back your foot off just a bit the timing advances conciderably and fuel consumption drops. I am going to see what I can do to get a little more torque.

I did the same motorway run achieving the same 10.2l/100 on 95, and so far have averaged 12.7 after resetting for 95 oct. I would have expected the ecu to wind some more timing into it but it doesn’t look like that changed either. So there’s pretty much no benefit on running over 91 unless your towing a heavy load.

After reading comments from other users. I found fuel average as WORST for my PRADO.

                          I have 2011, 2.7L Auto (L4) and using 91RON fuel.

I am driving almost 75km (single trip) on daily basis with 20% within city (speed limits below 80km/hr) and 80% highway (speed ranges b/w 100-120km/hr).

No additional weights, only single person in the vehicle, vehicle is throughout maintained by the TOYOTA authorized dealership.

                          I am getting 13.2litres/100km

Hey mate, mind if I ask how much you paid for your prado? I’m looking at 95000kms 2014 gxls from $40k up in petrol v6, just wondering how that compares.

also any thoughts you have on your purchase good or bad would be greatly received. Cheers!

Recently bought a V6 altitude. Over the last 10,000 kms have been using 95 fuel snd we get just over 1200 ks out of it. Trip computer shows 11.1L/100

when computer shows 0 range, can only manage 130 litres though.
