Safety pin off a Fire Extinguster is very handy addition to your key ring.

I use 3 different BP's to fill my car up, one near my house and two on the journey to work and i am nearly sure all three servos have pins fitted to their HI-FLOW diesel pumps.

I was talking to a guy a few months ago who has a 150 series and he asked me if I had this tank filling problem, which I don't. He said he had the problem when he first got his vehicle and it was terrible. Took it back to Toyota a few times and they dropped the tank out and could not find any issue. After several goes they discovered when they were putting the tank back in it was crimping one of the breather lines. Apparently (can't quite remember the proper description so this might not be entirely accurate) the each tank doesn't have an individual breather, the breather from one goes into the other and then that tank has an external breather. Anyway, they didconnected the breather between the two tanks and teed them together so each tank had a breather and problem fixed.

I have a 2009 120 series and initially had similar issues with fuel frothing and a very slow fill to the top. I changed to BP and immediately noticed a difference. On the first fill I thought I just filled my car with petrol as the fuel didn't froth. Thankfully it was diesel and after some investigation realised BP has a superior fuel. It's been BP for over a year and yes it still takes a fair amount of fuel before it is at the top but it can be done at a reasonable continues flow without the frothing so therefore much faster.

            FWIW,

I have now filled the new beast 3 times.
            Each time was at Caltex/Woolworths.
Each time there were no issues with frothing what so ever, and was filled to sight in neck.
This was a real pleasure as my previous vehicle DID take for ever to get the last 10l in.

I don't know if my Sept 2011-build vehicle has the previous tank-issue rectified. Maybe so.

(I don't use BP because it so hard to find - and when I do find it they are blatantly screwing the R's out of us with there pricing)

Interesting..... I too have filled up at Caltex & Shell ( I agree with u about BP) but still find it takes forever to fill that last 10ltrs or so.... no matter what brand....in saying that, I've this same problem with all my previous Toyota Diesels that I've owned....

Well..... To my surprise.... I've now filled up twice and both times have been very quick without any foaming up.... Very Surprised !!!

Economy wise though, it's gone up a bit but I can't put this down to fuel thing, but more so due to the "Re-Flash" of the transmission we had done at the last service which happened at the same time I tried using BP Fuel......

Will continue to monitor the economy over the next few fills to see whether it gets back to normal (The wife normally drives the car around)

I have problems with the low fuel light and filling. Low fuel warning and I can put in 30 liters. Takes forever to full to the neck....much worse than the 120 ever was!

I'm not a fan of BP (they are always the dearest in our area) in general and always to avoid filling up at BP Servos (thats Petrol or Diesel)..... I prefer Shell.....

On a Side note: I came across a Fuel Test/comparsion article some time ago between the different Aussie Fuel providers (ie: Shell / BP / Caltex, etc etc)..... Can't remember which was the best, just remembered that for the price u pay,BP was way down the list for best fuel.... but as I said, that was a fair while ago and things have probably changed.....
I worked on a BP Product (fuel) Tanker for a few years. We loaded up at the BP refinery in WA, and whenever we came into any of the major cities we would unload to BP, Shell and Mobil all in one go! Guess the argument of who has the better fuel is down to what additives the companies place in it once it goes into their holding tanks... never been a big fan of BP fuel though, purely for the cost of it.

Would have to agree with you there in regards to the $$. I've always gone out of my way to avoid BP, usingg mainly shell or Caltex..... but I thought I'd give it a go and I am surprised in the time taken to fillup..... I'll give BP a few more goes b4 retrying Shell..... I did forgot to mention that at the last service with Toyota, I did mention the time taken to refill and they said that they will have a look.... I forgot to ask when I picked up the car so I'm not sure if they did anything....
Interesting to hear what u said in regards to tanker supplying multiple suppliers (BP,Shell,Mobil).... A mate who use to work for Mobil in SA years ago said something similar....

I recently filled up at BP with one of the high flow pumps designed for trucks with no problems, suspect the problem some people are having may be breather related as mentioned somewhere in one of these threads
