I have found the DRLs to vastly improve the appearance of my own car, and being able to detect oncoming cars. The fact you notice a car with lights on in your peripheral vision without actually seeing it is bloody impressive. I always chuckle at passing the odd MY14 Prado with the parkers on, cause the owner is so upset the headlights are on. God knows how they can read the dash in the daylight like that, and stuff adjusting the dials brightness up and down every time. What are they trying to prove.

Regarding the inner guard, I checked my GXL Auto today and it has the new inner guard. The build date of mine is 25/01/14. Agree that it would be strange to sporadically use new design on some builds and not on others.

About the TFT multi information display inside the dash board, sometime, there is bond white bright square edge like fog. Especially when I drive the car out from the warehouse each time. Then slowly, the white part on the edge will be disappeared in 10-15 mins and become clear and sharp.

Did anyone find out the cause of the white outs in the 2014VX centre dash display. Mine did it yesterday for the first time, coincidently the temp displayed was 18 degrees (we haven't been that cool since i bought it) same as original post.

That is a concept photo, the car doesn't actually exist. I highly doubt the Hilux will look anything like that at all.

Volvo's have done this for years as have motor bikes. Personally I would rather the choice. I wonder whether the dealer can disable the feature as it is not a legal requirement here in Aus.

I could not agree more I am an educated driver that has the ability to drive to the road conditions, in low light or hwy driving headlights are a good idea.

Especially on silver and grey cars! You can't see them for road haze! Day light headlights is cool!!!!

I agree that vehicles on the highways should have lights on for better viability. You need to be seen for up to 2km away if somebody without a lot of grunt wants to overtake coming towards you. This is particularly true in poor light conditions (sun not shining). However running with headlights on all the time on corrugated roads and on tracks will trash the globes. Try shaking a hot globe and see how long it works for. Good drivers don't need factory boffins making decisions for them.

I think lights should be wired on whenever the engine is on. It does make most cars much more visible. A lot of cars are very hard to see against the colour of the bitumen especially if there is shadow on the road. My 150 is graphite colour and can be hard to see in broad daylight against some road surfaces as are a lot of dark colours and depending on the background some of the not so dark colours.

Anything that increases visibility and saves lives should be encouraged if not mandatory..

This is a joke Toyota needs to provide a fix for this, It is dangerous!! If you are tall you need to bend down while driving to see what is on as the dash lights are too low to see during the day.

I will NOT be a goose with my headlights on during a sunny summer day. I Just cant do it.

On country roads it's actually a good idea to drive with lights on, it saves lives and it would be good if more people did it. Not sure that it makes as much difference around the city. Funny though that this is the purpose of the fancy DRLs that new cars including the Prado have.
