  • Installed light new lights yesterday.

    https://s19.postimg.org/angxdjehf/Lights_Edited.jpg

Stedi Phantom's 180 watts each & 120 watt curved light bar.

The light bar is impressive, but once the spot lights are on the light bar is irrelevant.

I think I might just take the light bar off and put on the work Hilux.

Feeling a lot more confident about the 8000km's I'm going to do over Xmas.

Added a 1kg fire extinguisher, fire blanket and a hatchet to the cargo barrier.

      • Finally got around to installing a dual USB socket that has been sitting in the shed for a year or so

I'm thinking the dash cam is gonna permanently be plugged in the top slot, those blue LEDs will be a tad bright at night

                      • Hi all

I just added 3800km in under 40 hours which was actually quite fun. Darwin to Melbourne. Ended up stopping 6 times for fuel, I get range anxiety at anything less than 600km range.

At night I was flashed many times because people mistook my low beams (stock hid's) for high beams. Boy did they learn their lesson when my bull bar mounted portable sun fired back.

Bought Stedi 180 phantom LED 9" lights and they are mind blowing. Think I'll ditch the light bar as I could not see any difference when I turned the light bar on or off.

                        Fuel consumption was interesting.
                        In NT @ 130 km/h I average 12.6L/100km
                        At 120 km/h average 10.6L/100km
                        At 110km/h average 9.5L/100km

Had some P plater fly up behind me in the middle of the night & I swear he tapped my tow bar and then took off.

2 weeks and I'll be doing the whole thing again in reverse.

You're game for doing it at night! Admirable effort though. Planning to do the same on the way home?

                            Hey JimmyC,
If people are flashing you on low beam, your low beam headlight adjustment might be set too high as well...its not always about the brightness but also the aiming adjustment, so it might be worth seeing if you can point the low beams down a setting or two.
                            Just a thought.

don't the 150s have a leveling/adjustable headlight knob in the dash?

                              • Yep, if you have the setting on 0 or 1 it's usually too high. I find 2 usually pretty good for driving around unloaded or with a little weight.
