How realistic is the price rise threat? I thought they were going backwards against the Jeep most months. We're looking to get one "soon" and I'm wondering if the current special on GXL Diesel Auto's (here) is a good deal or not - see my question in the general buying forum!

I think the threat is always there..but..you are correct they are competing in a very tight market from what it was a couple of years ago. I too would have thought that they will stay where they are. But what might happen is they go back to their normal RRP of 68k+, then come Mar/Apr it will be on special again as not many people will buy at 68k and the 2014 stock will have to go and so on ...
I am also waiting till 2015. Will see where it goes! Not much point in buying now with the year end within sight.
Just my thoughts, I am sure some PP price expert will correct any incorrect information here.
Cheers.D4D. How long will it last?

Early 2015 you can pick up Dec 2014 builds. If that doesn't bother you then you will get an even better deal. I have done this with the 120 and 150 and saved quite a bit compared to the next year build. My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Provided the Prado is upgraded in the same way (meaning class leading drive train and features) then I can understand a decent price hike. COnsidering the Furtuner will be around, it will compete with the 'discount' competitors so it would be ideal moment to shift the Prado up a notch much the same way the prado shifted the LC200 up.
Luxury car sales are showing no signs of slowing, that market is at all time high, and continues to grow.-=2014 GXL D4D Auto Graphite, Firestone Airbags, ARB/Optima D34 Dual Battery, ARB UVP, TJM Airtech Snorkel=-

So... just got called back by a Sydney dealer I spoke with a week or two ago, chasing up leads that the sales guy who has "moved on" had left.
Apparently prices are going up 3% next year but also Toyota is scrapping some sort of rebate thingy that the dealers get so they won't be able to discount as much.

Anyway how is that going to help declining sales?
As pointed out other models are eating into their sales in a significant manner. I am sure some Harvard trained strategist are working on Toyota's sale managementLast edited by wanted; 08-12-2014, 08:51 PM.D4D. How long will it last?

Again, 2015 will be the year of the new Hilux, 2016 is Prado's.
Don't be surprised to see a hybrid version of the prado and landcruiser either....2011 Upgrade V6 GXL Graphite, Optima Yellowtop/Redarc Dual Battery setup, Dobinsons/Bilsteins 2inch Lift, Rhino Pioneer SXB Tray, Foxwing Awning/Tagalong
