It seems the brake trigger was only on the older models. Cruise seems to do its own shift down if the speed rises above the set point.

i love this feature. Its as if you were driving a manual, you can keep a regular speed going downhill without riding the brakes. Its safer too as less likely to get brake fade. Who needs an auto lock up kit eh?2013 (12 build) GX Auto.......with safari snorkel, toyota bar, tow bar, roof racks, led spots with fancy newpro switchgear, uniden remote UHF and aerial, ARB bash plates, Roadsafe recovery points, digoptions radio, general grabber AT2s, cheap ebay roof rack that has stood up surprisingly well.....

I use this a fair bit in my 120. But I also tend to drive my auto a bit like a manual and put the box into 4 or 3 on steep descents to get the engine braking. I always wonder what the brakes are like on cars I see with their brake lights on the whole way down a hillOriginally posted by Symo View PostI love it and wish more cars had it, because that is what you do in a manual to prevent brake wear.[SIZE=2]120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

" I always wonder what the brakes are like on cars I see with their brake lights on the whole way down a hill"... Smoking hot and faded to the shit house. And probably end up with warped rotors to go with it, I too have oftened dabbed the brake so it cuts back or if need be same as yourself I drop it back manually.... but it is also annoying when it dropes from 5 to 3rd gear at 100km/h and Refs go up to 3800.
In this Case I can only switch to manuell and lift it up to 4 or 5, whatever suits me more in that particular situation.
Applying more accelerator pedal has no effect to switching up when going down hill. Only when Street gets flat again, Gearbox (in D-Mode) will switch up again. same story when going up hill. Toyota´s Gearbox is in those cases the worst.
Have tested many other AT from other Brands, they switch much better, not so often (hectically) to make more use of the torque.Prado J15, 265-70/17
