You are right of course, the rears were C59-137V. (I'll edit my original reply)

I had the original C59-302's that were installed in the front replaced with C59-300's, which were then replaced with King Spings, which is probably the only change I've made that I did in fact notice.

While I haven't seen it happen I was told by a very experienced person that it does and that there is a field fix. It involves overlapping the broken bits for 2 or 3 cm. and securing them together with a series of worm drive hose clips plus some wire. This stops the spring moving about too much if you take it easy. Of course if you were on your way to tennis half a dozen tennis balls stuffed in there will help as well.

Instead of the worm clamps you can just hook up 3 batteries and grab your manga 404 welding rods and weld it together.......... At least that's what I would do

Breaking coil springs while not common it's not unheard of.

          Cheers Andrew

            Rainman,

Thanks for expanding on what you meant by "mismatch" between springs and shocks. I was thinking that you'd been told it was about shock rates/damping not being suited to the springs, but your explanation about mismatched lengths makes perfect sense.

well, the C59-137V are for a 90/95 series, so very odd that you would have been sold them for a 150 series....

                  Hey,

Rainman mentions in post #14 that his failure occurred in a 90 series.

Unfortunately the Simpson claimed a rear coil (in my FJ). Contacted the manufacturer today and they were immediately on getting me a replacement.

Its a long story, but suspect it happened mid way through the crossing; i knew i blew the airbag but didnt know about the spring until i got home and washed all the mud out and could see it. It kept captured (and roughly worked) for 3000 kms. I consider that very very good luck. Shock is also stuffed i presume due to constant bottoming out.
