Yes mine did screen mirroring out of the box, however I only tried it once to see if it worked as I find I have absolutely no need for it because apps on the Samsung phone run just the same directly on the head unit. If only Toyota allowed mirroring on their factory head units we wouldn't have to change them, but then they wouldn't be able to rip customers off for out of date maps.
Can't resist having another go at my favourite subject!

Looks good, and nice setup able to have the 10 inch screen. A bit wide for the 79 though, but a 9 inch fits well.

Have ordered an Android unit for our 79 series and will come with Android 8.0, 4GB/32GB.

Should be able to get those specs for your Prado version.

          a question from a newbie.

has anyone fitted one of these units to a 2012 Kakadu.

If so, do all the camera's still work normally.

Just out of interest, has anyone tried fitting one of these units - https://www.digoptions.com.au/android-gps-bluetooth-car-player-navigation-radio~26467

            Hi Andrew3134
I fitted a an earlier Digoptions unit to a 2012 GX, I was quite pleased that Digoptions seem to supply a kit with all the right parts to just plug and play. They were quite helpful. I am in the process of upgrading to an 8" digoptions unit. I bought this one, https://www.digoptions.com.au/gps-bl...stereo-d~26388
It comes with a canbus adaptor that isn't used on the GX but is used on the higher models. If your version doesn't include the canbus adaptor they sell it separately.

My thread is hear, I wil post some photos we I get time to install.

Update: you probably also need the facia panel for the Kakadu, digoptions normall has a bundle that includes the GPS and facia kit. I think you have to muck around to get your existing camera to work. (I am fitting the digoptions camera as my GX didn't come with one)

Hi All. Just added a Dasaita Unit. I have a 2016 GX; so no GPS & only reversing camera.
              • Got 4GB/32GB, Android 8, 1240X600 & 10.2” screen, model HA2127-V840-8
              • Ordered 11/11 (Singles Day with extra discount) via AliExpress at US$402 (including GST these days) or about AUD$557. Noticed a few extra dollars discount for upcoming Black Friday.
              • Received on 16 Nov – that is quick!
              • Micro SD slot: located inside on the side; will be difficult quickly swapping cards.
              • Micro SD card included: 8GB card with iGo; maps of SE Asia, including Australia.
              • I prefer Map Factor Navigator with free Open Street maps. This provides good offline maps that are updated regularly. Also shows lots of walking tracks – useful on the phone, not the car, of course!!
Step 1: Remove existing head unit; this quite easy and there is plenty of info on how to do this.
Step 2: Remove vents from existing unit and fit to Dasaita unit. This is fiddly as you need coordinate unclipping 6 clips; once you manage to unclip it fits easily to the Dasaita unit.
Step 3: Connect the Dasaita wiring to the Prado wiring. This is quite straight forward as the harnesses are all matched. The reverse camera needs two RCA connectors joined and it worked; looks a little grainy on the bigger screen. I had a couple of Prado connectors left over.
Also swapped the hazard switch and put on supplied switch cover. As noted by others, the wiring is tight with the move to the passenger side; so I added some additional wire - there are only 4 wires - and connectors.
Step 4: Turn on - and it worked - yippee! Then setup and tested radio, Bluetooth, wifi, GPS, set the CanBus, added Google account and updated & installed some apps from Google Play. All working well so far.
Step 5: Work out where to put GPS antenna, Microphone and USB leads. Note, I only added the dual USB lead.
Put the GPS antenna at back of the unit cover near the windscreen and the microphone on the driver’s side. As the wires came up I cut small grooves for the wires as there is no gap otherwise. Finally, I fed the 2 USB cables to inside the glovebox.

              Impressions:
              • Wow! The improved screen size is great!
              • Only early days but the sound is good!
              • The fit and connection is straight forward. Looks like it is standard!
              • The flexibility of an unrestricted system is great. Just standard Android and use the functions or apps you want or need.
              • Having wifi is great and makes updating at home easy.
              • Removal of the CD player is not a big issue. It is replaced with workable USB ports; I found the supplied Toyota USB port was limited and so rarely used; and that AUX port next to useless.
              • It illustrates the poor nature of the Toyota system. I pity those with the Toyota GPS and those old & limited maps.

              To do:
              • Load and setup Torque Pro.
              • Load other apps as needed. Can now load and read documents now.
              • Maybe set the USB leads into that card thingy in the glove box.
              • Will decide later if I load up the Malaysk ROM.
Thanks to Pradopoint, especially JohnLynn & paddyb, for showing how to improve the vehicle! Gerry

Well done, I am pleased that you like it so far. It looks like there have been improvements since I bought mine. I have no card slot, iGO is in the internal memory.
If it came with iGO primo installed you will have to swap this over to iGO nextgen if you want the live traffic function. It is broken on Primo (all android devices at present) but works well on Nextgen.
My unit is only Android ver 6 it is good to hear they are supplying units with 8 now.
I have also not bothered to extend the hazard switch wires, I really should do, was it easy to get the plugs and sockets?
I bought a couple more toys for mine, a digital radio, a tyre pressure monitor and a dashcam that sits neatly behind the mirror, the wiring was easier than I expected it can be hidden away in the roof lining then down the door pillar and into the dash. Torque pro runs well with a cheap BT OBD connector, let me know if you need any pids.

Hi. I have iGo nextgen. With the hazard switch I found the wiring very tight and made getting unit in, and out, very difficult; I simply got some 4 pin mini molex connectors from Jaycar and short lenghts of wire, cut into the short section from the switch as that comes out of the car; had to carefully made sure the wires were aligned. That way the existing connectors are all in place. Will try a get a photo later.
I have Torque Pro running on my phone including ATF and DPF PIDs; the fuel tank ones not working yet; I just have to load the PIDs into the new headunit. Thanks again to Pradopoint, and Fortuner forum!
Will see how I go with the extra toys - let's get the hang of this new unit first. I now have GPS integrated in the car!
Another observation - the screen is little reflective at times, but that is what it is being fixed in a car. Also today found the radio goes quiet when I put in Reverse!!?? Possibly need to study the Canbus settings; shame there is no doco on those settings and the wording is a bit odd.
And still to test mirroring and teethering from the phone.

And finally, had a service today and apparently there is a DPF software update for Prados in December, or very soon. But so far my DPF seems to be behaving.

                    Hi gwaite001,
I am not a fan of the Toyota OEM unit, but I do like the way it works with my Ipad as it shows all the artists, tracks, album etc. Does the Dasaita Unit you have allow connection to an ipad so that you can play music etc ?

                    Cheers,
                    Mal

Hi. Cannot comment specifically about Apple stuff as I don’t use Apple. However, my Android phone connects by Bluetooth or WiFi and there is an Apple option on the Mirror settings.
My view is that these days, the car head unit should just be another device to connect to. If I want to load some additional apps, why not!
Remember, the Dasaita unit is Android with no real restrictions, such as being able to have videos playing while driving. You can simple load your music to unit’s storage, via USB (this works better now) and use whatever app you like; or mirror; or… it’s up to you.

I don't know anything about ipads either as I have always found apple products far too restrictive but if an ipad will work as an external memory then when playing audio on the head unit a swipe right shows albums and a swipe left shows tracks.

Hi again. Just another update on my Dasaita unit.
                          • Going well so far.
                          • When go into reverse all sound from radio, music or whatever stops. Haven't found a Canbus setting for that yet. But maybe not a bad idea to focus your concentration.
                          • The Canbus settings can be fun if set "wrong"; but fun to play with ahnd see what they do; just change 1 at a time. Examples are: no radio or music with GPS; only open 1 door rather than all doors when touch either front door; allow video while driving.
                          • The Hazard switch - started with mini molex plugs to extend wiring but it proved unreliable getting wires secured; the supplied wiring is quite thin. So resorted to twisting and soldering and is working well. Then simple wrapped cable to protect.
                          • Got Torque Pro going well.
                          • Unit does not have a split screen ability.
                          • WiIl not allow install of Android Auto. But then you do not really need it as phone links via bluetooth.
                          • Experimenting with "Read it to Me' for SMS but not much testing done yet. You load in on the phone and is supposed to read SMS to head unit. Will see how it goes
                          • Attaching photo of unit with the wires. Quite messy looking but works well; the red line is the lengthen hazard wire keeping the supplied connectors.
                          • Have looked at Malaysk ROM but still deciding.
                          • Will give the GPS (have 3 now: iGo, MapFactor & Sygic with off line maps) a go over the break.
                          Gerry

Could you please elaborate on your thoughts about the sound quality? It's the only thing stopping me getting a Android HU.

Hi. I reckon the sound is better; certainly not worse. There seems more control with equaliser settings & loudness. But as others have also noted, being standard Android it is a flexible system that allows YOU control to load apps you need/want. Remember I came from the GX system with no maps and standard sound, no old maps or fancy JBL or whatever in higher spec models. The only significant downside so far is the supplied phone app - it's OK but not brilliant; but I am experimenting with other apps. Gerry

thank you. Really appreciate it. Ive got a2007 gxl, so none of the fancy stuff either.

I might give it a go. Do you happen to have a link to the one you bought, and do you happen to know the model? They tend to just advertise "daisito universal" and that's it. I've found basically zero detailed info on the daisito. I've found heaps on the xtrons te706pl, which I almost bought, but the company that sells them claims the daisito with an extra dsp will be better than a brand name...

Sound quality is very subjective and I'm just worried i spend $400 on something that I go "well that sounds crap" and regret it.

I I might take the risk, unless the half price deal on the kenwood I liked comes up again, which I missed by one day.
