Is the 2010 FJ Cruisers a 150?

Here are some close ups of some new features on the 2010 FJ Cruiser. The body is the same, so I focused on the differences in the engine bay & on the 4.0l petrol engine.

Here is the new color - ARMY Green (The FJ 40 was actually built for the US Army as the BJ-25 to be used in the Korean Campaign because the Jeep was unable to navigate the rough Korean terrain.)


Here is a close up of the new 4.0L engine. As you can see it has a DOHC and the oil filter has been moved to a cartridge filter and is at the bottom of the engine. Also note the new redesigned dual sealed bearings. The intake cover & pre-cleaner may also be the same.






Here is probably one of the biggest points to compare. Note the Prado washer tank, the new welded on dual battery tray & remote PS reservoir.

The anwer is not it's not even close to the same. Like all manufacturers there will be parts sharing.More 70 series than anything else. But if you want a FJ then they will arrive in Australia next year

You sure about the FJ coming to Aus next year, wouldnt it be a direct competitor to the Prado :?:

The FJ will end production in 2010 due to a striped down version of the 4-Runner. According to steve Applebaum of Toyota there are no plans to release the FJ as a RHD.

There is a better chance of the Prado comming out in the US than the FJ hitting the OZ market.

So who's correct here? Is Toyota bringing another model out in Aus? Seems an odd thing to do with the Prado and 70 series fullcab (original Prado) already here. But the FJ's do look interesting.

I have talked with an executive with Toyota USA and was told that the FJ Cruiser will not be made as a RHD and is currently in the last year of production (2010). Sorry Mates.

You sir, respectfully are incorrect....the FJ replacement will be based upon the 4 runner 4 door - this is correct, and there IS a RHD version coming to Australia in the year after its release in the states.

The new Toyota President of global operations wants more of a grass roots approach to vehicle sale and that means more variety of models for more markets, not limiting it to a select few and trying to sell the hell out of them to get numbers.

The auto market is ever changing and the information I have is almost a year old. If you can provide some more information I would like to pass it along to some friends that despritely want an FJ Cruiser.

Very interesting T.I.L. Maybe the new entry will hit a lower price bracket. Always did seem a strange move to me to increase the price range of the Prado. If a new model is in the wings then it all starts to make a little more sense. More rugged, cheaper offroader for the working class man. It'll be interesting to see.

Well that all looks like an interesting discussion thread but I am coordinating an FJ40 event into one of our tours in the middle of 2010. So you can expect a version of the thing in Australia mid next year unless something drastically changes over the next six months and that will take a decision from Japan. I can assure you that it is expected and that product planning has been underway for months

I was just reading one of the mags and reporting that they are definately on the way, decisions, decisions, i do like something a little different that's why i think i brought the Jeep, but something different with reliabilty, now that could be tempting.
