Using TechStream

I downloaded TecgStream 12.20.024 and bought a supposedly compliant cable from OBD2Australia.com.au for $55. I then loaded Oracle VM on the laptop to use it a virtual machine (read somewhere that this was necessary as the download file was an .OVA).

I clicked Connect To Vehicle in TS but after a few seconds of thought it showed me the Vehicle Connection Wizard. This does not show Prado. If I enter the VIN the Next button remains greyed out.

EDIT: the lapdog did tell me it couldn't find a driver for the USB cable.

How are others connecting their 150's?

I am about to put new injectors in and will need to enter the compensation code and, IIRC, follow some additional learning step (?).

Using a VM is a bit fancy. I have TS on a Windows Surface Pro of 3 years back. Appart from crashing every now and then it works.

Didn't OBD2 Aus provide a driver for their cable?

Also TS V12 is a bit old. Depending on the age of your vehicle you may need a newer version.

Have you enabled USB controller in Virtualbox manager for that VM? It should list the USB device in the filter list

I have been using a VM for Techstream for a quite a long time on Win10, I also run the 120 OEM factory service manual in it with an old version of IE and Acrobat for compatibility. The later versions of Techstream don't necessarily make for a better experience as some functions in the later versions have some features removed, version 12 works fine on the wife's 2018 RAV4.

12.20.024 is quite an old version. What year is your Prado?

I'm not sure why you need to use a VM to run TS. I'm currently using 14.10.028 on a 64-bit Windows 10 PC.

I have a similar problem...
I have downloaded several versions and they all run well using an old win XP laptop.
The problem is that the program doenst have my Prado 1kdftv.
The only one that it has is the landcruiser 2UZ.
is there someone who can share a techstream version that has the option for Prado 120 1kdftv??
I would really appriciate anybody's support by uploading his functional version...

When you set up techstream did you select in area selection "north america" or "other"?

Try changing it to general

Fixed it by changing some parameters in BIOS configuration for coding (from "compatible" to "ANSI"
