So I cut open my transfer and pre filters after changing them at about 30 000Km, interesting to see the black staining on both filter mediums.

Looking at Berrimah Diesel YouTube videos the black colouration of the filter medium appears to be perfectly normal, just evidence that the filter is doing its job. He also shows that original is best.

LOL. Old "Bury-my-Diesel" They are absolute idiots.. some of the crap they post up. I wouldn't use them for info in a fit.

That black colour is ashphaltine. Diesel breaks down a bit due to heat as it cycle through the system. It can look dark green when you first remove the filter and it's still soaked with diesel. I've seen this on my brand new car after 20 000km on a pre filter.

Everyones entitled to their opinion regarding Berimah or any other provider. I don't agree with everything he posts on youtube but then I don't agree with everything that anyone posts on youtube. For example, he is adamant that fuel filters must be changed every service, I personally feel that is overkill and replace both my pre & oem filter every 50K, this has served me well so far. The one thing to keep in mind is that it would be very unlikely for a small business to remain in business for over 30 years if they were idiots. As usual, buyer beware and apply your own personal filters...
