  • Re: When is the new generation Prado due?

This pic had me going for a while. Found it on an obscure website talking about "2009 Prado Views"?? But more investigation reveals it is the Lexus LS570..... isn't it??
    http://lexus.com.au/model/lx570/

Was the front headlights that had me for a second.......Keep waiting... :?

I'm a little confused. It's a picture of the Lexus 570...I fully appreciate I might be a little on the thick side but what are we suppose to be seeing?

Sorry, I posted this very late at night. I found a website which had a label saying 2009 Prado along with this pic, which could have been misconstrued as the 2009 Prado. Just in case anyone else sees something like that and gets ideas it is the new model Prado. That's all I was saying. Apologies about confusing.

Not really a picture I know but apparently there are some spy shots in the magazine. I have a colleague chasing it down for me and I will post any suitable shots when I get them.

One Japanese website (Articles in February and May 2009) says:

"Full model change due in September 2009, the petrol engine will be replaced by the V8 4.7 Liter engine, as same as Lexus sold in North America"

"Timing of the model change is postponed, and the new Prado will be sold in 2010."

Timing change sounds reasonable given the troubles in Toyota but I wouldn't get hopes up for the V8 locally though. Will have to see what the magazine has in the way of information.

Found this image recently. It appears to be similar to the 4Runner, however the article makes comparisons to the current 120 series and there is a piccy of the current shape Prado in the bottom corner. Very similar front end to the new Kluger and RAV4's. I don't believe this is the new model but thought I'd post the image for comparison.

I agree it looks more like a 4Runner but the largest text says Landcruiser Prado. Few points from the article:

                        * Sept 09 release
                        * D4D diesel to be carried over, V6 'clean' diesel engine by 2013 (sounds like no change to the D4D power or torque)
                        * Electronic controlled suspension (I think they mean Kinetic style suspension)
                        * Cruise control will be in the steering wheel (about time)
                        * 2nd row seats to be split 40/20/40 instead of current 60/40 arrangement
                        * 3rd row seats will fold down into the floor (bye bye fuel capacity and separate 3rd row seats)
                        * Overall height lowered by 20mm to 1800mm
                        * 8L V16 petrol engine with 13 speed auto transmission (just joking nothing in there about petrol engines)

Given the number of variants Toyota produce around the world it is hard to say whether any or all of these will be adopted for our market. Just have to wait and see.

Well I don't mind the look of it at all... Looks a damn sight better than that other drawing that’s floating around.

Is this some sort of official drawing or and artists impression?

It's an artists impression - but after some searching I found the other side of the article!

It appears the piccy on the left side is the Prado, where as the right side is the 4Runner (as originally thought). If this is anything to go by it appears to be similar to the current 120, yet a little more refined.

So who can read the text - there has to be somebody out there!
