The top pic just looks like a regular 120 with some type of front end kit on it. You can see where the 120 headlights have been blanked out at the top. Could be a photoshop effort at that.....

The bottom pic does look like the sketches on the previous page. And the more pronounced bonnet ridge lines also fit with MJ's magazine cover on the previous page, not the same headlights though. If I was a betting man I'd say that MJ's mag cover represents the best logical progression of the current shape.

However, we've got so many possible styles at the moment that it's really impossible to tell what the heck they really are.

Top pick with the flares is the Artic Ice truck conversion kits.
Bottom pic has to be too small for the Prado, look at the arse end length, more like a Rav4 Upgrade or Kluger in the future maybe to bring it inline with the Prado styling

Was talking with a Toyota sales guy today and his best guess is a new model landing around October this year. Production of the current model will stop in Sept he thinks... as the last discount schedule he received from Toyota includes, up to and including the sept 09 plate builds...
The look of the new body is being brought into line with the styling of the 200 and RAV models top make the Prado look more 'family' orientated.

Not much more information that the single page held. If this article is real (I cannot work out where it is from) it shows the replacement for the 120 series to be a facelift rather than an all new model.

So much for the speculation from the other magazine about the Lexus V8 engine being introduced though based on Ben's past comments there isn't much to recommend it other than the number of cylinders. Like Mav I hope somehow the fuel capacity is retained or at least maximised. Not interested in 90 litres of fuel. It needs to have 150 Litre capacity or more. With regards to the 3rd row one of the advantages to us of the present arrangement is being able to keep the fridge on one side and a seat on the other to carry 6, if this new arrangment is the same as the other P word then that flexibility is gone.

                My service manager told me that new Prado will be 'only facelift';
The Sale persons told me that new Prado will be 'major upgrade'.

I think that servo had more credit than the Sale persons.

Unless major upgrade, there is no point to get a new Prado.

According to this http://www.carazoo.com/autonews/0506...unch-Next-Week Indian website a new Diesel will be launched on the 9th of June with a V8 engine????

Land Cruiser Prado Diesel to Launch Next Week

                  05 June, 2009
Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV will be available in diesel variant from 9th June and Toyota dealers will start taking orders for the new variant from this month. Currently, Toyota markets the petrol variant of Land Cruiser Prado that is powered by a 232 bhp 4.0L V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Land Cruiser Prado Diesel will be powered by a 4.5-litre V8 engine producing 282 bhp of power and 66.2 kg-m of peak torque. The diesel car is available in several Toyota markets across the globe and this V8 engine has a reputation of delivering smooth performance and is acclaimed to provide speeds in excess of 200 km/h. The SUV comes with four wheel drive and has a spirited 6-speed automatic transmission with manual override function.

The Land Cruiser Prado Diesel has a non-nonsense boxy design highlighted by prominent wheel arches, large bumpers and a thick chrome-bound grille which gives it a dominating presence. The interiors are loaded with lots of wood and leather to keep most luxury car buyers happy.

For the Indian market, Toyota Motors imports Prado from Japan as a completely built unit (CBU). Similarly, the Prado Diesel too will be treated similarly and will come with an enhanced price tag owing to import taxes and duties.

Are they referring to what we have as the 78 series wagon (boxy design with prominent wheel archs??), are they not calling that the prado with 4.5lt v8 which is what we have.

As we all know, the Lexus GX 470 is Prado in the rest of the world.

There are some 'news' regarding the up coming Lexus GX 460:

The photos MUST the old Lexus GX:

NEWPORT BEACH, CA – Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc.’s Lexus brand will launch a next-generation GX SUV this fall, a source familiar with the plan tells Ward’s.

The GX, a midsize body-on-frame SUV that shares a platform with the Toyota Land Cruiser, debuted in the U.S. in 2003 as an ’03 model.

The upcoming model will get Toyota’s new 4.6L V-8 engine, the source says. The small V-8, which debuted in the ’10 Toyota Tundra, making 310 hp, will replace a 263-hp 4.7L V-8 in the ’09 GX.

The next GX also will receive a new interior design as well as updated interior features such as a next-generation navigation system. Additionally, it will sport revised sheetmetal and body panels including a different rear door, the source says.

Lexus General Manager Mark Templin declines to confirm the new GX but says the brand wants a continued presence in the segment.

“The largest SUVs have been hit the hardest, but there’s still a segment of the population that wants those vehicles,” he tells Ward’s here during a media preview for the Lexus HS 250h sedan.

“(SUV owners) tow things. They play hard. They do a little bit of off-roading, not much. More than actually doing it, they want to know they can do it if they have to. We still think there’s a viable market with our GX.”

Lexus hoped to sell 20,000 GX units in the SUV’s first full year of sale when it debuted in 2003 as a stopgap between the midsize RX cross/utility vehicle and large LX SUV. However, sales in recent years have underperformed that figure. Deliveries in April plummeted 66.1% from like-2008 to 2,210 units.

The GX’s best sales year was 2004, when it sold 35,420 units.

Ward’s data shows the GX’s segmentation group, Luxury Middle SUV, posted the fifth-largest decline of all U.S. light-vehicle segments in the first four months of 2009, losing 52.8% of its volume through April compared with year-ago.
