Would have to agree with you MickL. The term [Softroader] sounds scary.
However the article mentions the CRAWL feature, carried over from the 200 series.
It would need to be competitive against the Pajero though.
You would think that it would retain Low Range.
A reverse camera is a great idea,... it's about time.
Looks too like the 2 fuel tanks could be staying, otherwise there'd be no need to hang the spare on the back door.
They also mentioned 15mm lower, Mmmmnnn....would be better if it went the other way +15mm or more.
The new look doesn't appeal to me at this stage, but in time,.....possibly.
The new Price $$$ will be interesting to see. You may have to pay Luxury Tax new orders.????? :?
Cheers

The real pictures in the bush look better than the photoshop ones, i think i will buy one at some stage in 2011. Price will be the killer, if it goes up 10k like the cruiser the that might be another story, good news for the 120 owners, go the resale value.

I updated the now locked thread in 'General' on my response but something else I noticed from the interior shots is the distinct lack of a transfer case lever - not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere but that presumably means selection via button/dial instead ala Disco 3/4 Terrain Response System ?
Lots of extra buttons on the steering wheel but I can't make out the icons.
I think the 'integrated flares' will be expensive if you scrape one - whole new wing rather than just a new flare.

my thoughts are that it looks like a mix of many 4X4's. Grill, Jeep. Gaurds, paj...
And I bet ARB are scratching their heads about bull bar shape.. look how far that bumper runs up the guard.
But I like it.. one day when 18" coopers discoverer ST's are comon place I might get one.
Jeff.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

From memory the 200 series comes up a long way and ARB cut it in half to fit a real bar. I would assume the same for the 150. I think I aslo heard that you can optionally fit the older 17" rims to give better rubber profile. I guess words like "Softroader" might come about from glossy 18" alloys a little bit of rubber.
I reckon it's a cross betwwen a Rav 4/Kluger (look pretty much the same) and the 200.
A few interesting things I've picked up from the Toyota Japan site:
- No diesel motor in Japan (yet maybe) only 2.7 4cyl and the 4 lt V6
- Gas strut now on rear door (Yay!)
- A tray in the center console (2x Yay!)
- Terrain response traction control (like Landrover)
- Cruise control radar (Very cool bit of kit)
- Multiple cameras
- Looks like some sort of park assist (maybe self park like the new Prius?)
- Rear floor quite high due to the flat folding seats. (Hope they come out easily)
- 265/60/18 tyres on 18x7 rims (Can I get Mickey Ts in this size  ) no mention I can see of other rim/tyre sizes.
Wish I could read Japanese!

According to Toyota Australias press releases;
New Prado is:
100mm wider (!!!)
80mm longer and 15mm lower overall.
Projector low beam (like RAV)
Body coloured rear spoiler covers the wiper(standard)
Petrol gets variable cam timing on inlet and exhaust = more torque, better economy
Diesel remapped for better economy
Stability control, traction control and SEVEN airbags standard - cripes.
be interesting to see the pricing!
