However have recently made enquiries regarding a diesel Prado at the local Toyotal dealer who advises that the new Prado due out in November has a 3000kg towing rating.
Does anyone have any idea if this is correct, I have done some research, but can not seem to find anything on the increased towing capacity....
Probably done to match the Pajero however the catch is the ball weight in the Paj for towing >2500kg drops to only 180kg

Looks like it has a gas strut on the main rear door - that's a much better idea than the current setup and something that I will be investigating as a retro fit. How many PP'ers have had someone else open the rear door and let it swing open and hit the stops at full force? Sometimes I wonder how the bloody door manages to stay attached to the vehicle!!

A mate got some info from a dealer keen to sign up a prospective customer. A few things he mentioned caught my interest.
At present the plan seems to be to offer the two 3 door models in t/d auto form only.
The Standard model will disappear and the GX will be the base 5 door model. GX will be 5 seats with 7 seats an option.
Petrol motors will not be available on the GX.
Looks like there will be 9 colours with only the whites and ebony being carried over. The cloth will be grey or ivory, with ivory and black in leather for the upmarket models.
Seat height adjustment on all models will be very welcome, as will be telescopic steering wheel adjustment on most models. The GLX and above will have a cargo cover. Electric folding feature for the 3rd row of seats will start with the VX.
Production started last month so the first shipment can't be too far away.

            - at last they've seen sense and put this most basic of features in their cars that are appx $55k ! I couldn't have lived with a GLX just because of the seats and I was told by the dealer that if I put an aftermarket one in you 'lose the warranty' muttering something about airbags and connections... - great customer service eh ?

...but shock horror...where is Flinders Red ? - sure lose Grey and Silver and Stockton Beach colour (and blue and green cos no one bought them) but FRed ?

              Sorry mate, no Flinders Red.
But if you have a look at the overseas brochures featured earlier in this thread, you'll see the colours. There is a red, but a little different to the current one.
If you check the Landcruiser 200 colours on the Australian Toyota website, you'll find Glacier White, Crystal Pearl, Silver Pearl, Graphite, Ebony and Blue Storm which I'm told will be on the Prado range as well. Add a new blue/grey, a red and a yellowy gold brighter and lighter than the current Dune and there you should have it.
Still, as long as there's white, the rest are pretty much irrelevant, aren't they?

Stock is already in Australia and pre-production ones have been here for months. Fleet and the national dealer launch will be in early November. Cars are already being driven by selected dealerships in Melbourne at the proving ground. All final specs are confirmed now and some of the information held at dealerships is not accurate as is pre-release data. Final product packs will go out shortly or this week I suspect.

CRAWL is five speed and the KDSS will be standard on the L5 model. The camera technology is exactly the same as LR Disco4 and Lexus which is no surprise. Not sure yet on where KDSS will be an option but is standard on L5 along with the Toyota version of terrain response.

Tyre sizes will be 245/70R17 and 265/60R18

Stereo in the L5 is a blinder

It'll be a piece of cake to get replacements at Mt Dare. :!:

And with all these new modification regulations on Driver Assist equipped vehicles, it seems anyone who is going to hit the dirt better get one with the 245/70R17 setup. Do we know if the different wheels and tyre sizes are approved across the range so they can be swapped without breaking the regulations?

                                Hey Sprocket,

That looks very nice. It will be very interesting to see the pricing on the 3 door.
