Yep, and whole door had to be replaced under warranty. Cost Toyota a lot of money on my brand new Prado and it cost me a week of Prado down time. Door welds cracked. I'd love to retrofit a gas strut before it goes out of warranty.

      • Re: When is the new generation Prado due?Update on tyre sizes

OK here's the final solution for Australian vehicles

        GX-17x6.5 alloys with 245/70/R17 tyres

        GXL-17x7.5 alloys with 265/65 R17 tyres

VX and above-18x7.7 alloys with 265/60 R18 tyres

It'll be a piece of cake to get replacements at Mt Dare. :!:

And with all these new modification regulations on Driver Assist equipped vehicles, it seems anyone who is going to hit the dirt better get one with the 245/70R17 setup. Do we know if the different wheels and tyre sizes are approved across the range so they can be swapped without breaking the regulations?

A check of the tyre placard should shed more light on this. If they use the one placard across all models then it should list all options.

I think this was pointed out as a failing of the current model, by that crazy person in Finland or somewhere like that who managed to roll his Prado in a city street. (read the comments to get an idea how it happened) The technology is called "Roll-sensing side curtain airbags (RSCA)"

We thought that about the 3-door 120-series Prados that were flogging around France in 2006... They look a lot like the shorty Paj's

I'm certain the admins will create a new section for the 150 when the vehicle is release (in Nov this year) and if there is enough interest to warrant a dedicated section. In the meantime, enjoy what's available and you're most welcome to start a new thread in the 'General Section' relating to the 150. We don't like to engage in races with other forums. PP aims to provide quality information to it's members rather than quantity.

Trying to like the new design. The more I look at it though, the more I really don't. Hopefully in real life It'll look better. The lower to the ground part is worrying to say the least. Less 4WD, more passenger car. Things that make you go......... hmmmmmmmmm

Is it actually lower to the ground or has the roof line been lowered, losing head room?

From the specs that are out in the press here in France, ground clearance is given as 210mm (3 door version) and 220mm (5 door version).

The specs very considerably for this vehicle on a country by country basis. For example in Australia we do not have the underslung spare tyre. The ground clearance, not height overall, for the Australian 5 door is 220mm and for the three door 210mm. Departure angle for the same vehicles is 26 and 26, approach angle is 32 for all models and versions and rampover is 22 for new 5 door and 25 for the new 3 door and the current 120 is 20

Height overall, not ground clearance for the new 5 door is 1890 and for the 3 door 1875

                                Regards
