The photo is of an overseas spec which is consideably different from the Australian specs.
It is not a L5 spec car by a long way. It doesn't have the multi terrain response or CRAWL controls nor does it have the camera controls so clearly a L4 or lower
Australian spec auto has tiptronic rather than the gated sytem in 120 series
The dash is very good. Wait until you see it in real life and drive it. All stuff well laid out and accessible, up to a point. There are still opportunities for improvement. As well the navigation system in the photo takes over considerable elements of the stereo as well hence not a lot to look at in that area
Don't get excited by the inverter, it's the same as FJ40 in the USA and has less grunt than the average mouse powered wheel. Also only works with ignition on so no great leap forward
Interesting info on the new site. No prices yet though.
There are some pics of the new genuine bull bar - seems only a low profile option is available at this time. My opinion - it looks crap. Gives you an idea what the bottom part of a 'full' bull bar may look like.
I don't like the tow package either - seems to be below the level of the rear bumper.
Looks like the petrol model will only take 95 octane fuel.
I see fog lights are standard again. Why do aussie cars still have fog lights when they cannot be used but most drivers in 99% of driving situations? Daytime running lights would be a far more useful - and safer - accessory.

ARB deluxe bar, OME 2" lift, Safari snorkel, BFG A/T's, Ironman winch, LED bar, Redarc DC-DC dual battery, Rhino Rack Pioneer tray, Outback drawers and plenty of goodies inside.
The interesting thing for me is why do the VX and Kakadu weigh 400kgs more than the GX and GXL? How can they have the same 8.5l/100lm fuel consumption. And, the Kakadu weighs 2420kg, max of 2990kg, giving a payload of 570kg. Chuck in 150l of fuel, say 150kg of caravan tow ball weight, me and the missus, that leaves 125 kg for the three kids. Looks like the boot will be empty....
Well I went along to my local dealer dealer today (Glen Waverley) expecting to see the new 150 Prado but alas it was not to be. I was told the official dealer launch date is Saturday 20th Nov. At least I managed to pick up a brochure.
You can also access an e-brochure from the toyota.com.au website. I was about to post some pics from this, however, remembered that it would be against the rules (copyright warning).

Went into the dealer today at Narellan and tried to get a brochure as the boss had said a new vehicle needs to be ordered before the end of the year(for 50% investment thingy).
No luck as the dealership is having their launch on Thursday.
plenty of vids there of the new prado. They have electronic rear difflocks apparently? If this is the case it may be ok paying the bit higher price. Beats getting the airlockers installed.
Not sure if this has already been mentioned but a mate of mine is a head mechanic at large dealership and went to an info session about a month back for the new prado. /apparently mid next year they are releasing a twin turbo v6 diesel in the prado. It is in final testing now!
