    Good mate,

I have check your post and I can see that you did an excellent job. I have a GX 2010 model and was wondering if you would be happy to put one together for me and I'll give pay you for the parts and your time.
    Regards,
    Krys

      Hey Krys,

I'm assuming you mean mine? It probably wouldn't be worth it for you. I did mine with about $700 worth of parts but it took about 6 weekends to get it all done. Definitely a labour of love and worth it for my own rig but probably not so much if I had to charge someone else for the time it takes to make them. Better off getting a professional like drifta to put a package together that fits your needs just right unless you want to have a crack at making your own.

After I built mine, I did a longer trip to the cape and decided to remove the seats to add a bit of extra space and reduce the excess weight. It's seriously a 10 minute job so I wouldn't worry too much about taking them out to build your false floor.

If you don't though, you can just undo the bolts holding the cargo tie downs in and get some longer replacements to bolt your false floor in the same holes. No idea what the crash rating would be but they seem pretty sturdy to me.
Cheers Tiny! I might take them out to see how simple it is for demonstration purposes to the wife :-) thanks for the feedback!

I posted some pics of my homemade setup a while ago, but today I took them all out, gave the rear end a good vacuum and made a bit of an improvement - previously I did't have the forward end of my false floor properly secured to the floor, it was only screwed in via the rearmost seat bolt holes. Anyway, I installed some M8 rivnuts which have done the job BEAUTIFULLY! And, I thought I'd take some pics whilst it was all in pieces...

The front bolts that secure the front of the rear row of seats (which I've obviously removed) are angled forward at about 30 degrees - this makes it difficult to use them to secure the false floor - hence the M8 rivnuts as shown below:

To locate exactly where I had to drill the holes in the false floor, I placed "dowel locating spikes" in the top of the M8 rivnuts, placed the false floor carefully in position, and gave it a good whack in the approximate place with a heavy rubber mallet! Worked a treat!

I've had these for a while - they had to be custom manufactured in England - M10 counter-sunk long bolts in 1.25 thread - cost about $40 inc delivery and took ages! But, I didn't want to drill any other holes and these are super strong.

False floor in position and finally properly secured - front and back!

Drawer units in place and secured to false floor - counter sunk M8 bolts.

          Drawers at full extension.

Top in place and fridge slide back on and good to go!

Just enquiring if you have the dimensions you used for the fit out. Looks really good and I'd like to have a go myself.

Finally got my attempt finished this weekend after waiting ages for the handles to arrive.

Will install fridge slide at some point.

All up cost was around the 300-350 range.

Have the google sketchup file / model if anyone wants it.

What materials did you construct them from? How much did they end up weighing?

In hindsight I went a bit overkill and used 15mm structural ply, 12mm probably would have been enough

In terms of weight no idea, probabaly in the 40kg-50kg range, I can lift the whole unit without the draws in it and I'm no strong man

                    Carpet was sourced from bunnings

Hardest bit to find was the propeller plate angle, i wanted a bit of bling so got a local steel mob to make some up for me, $30 bucks well spent

I've been watching all your builds for a while and there's some real handy people out there with some excellent design ideas. I also wanted drawers badly but when I saw the price I just couldn't see the value so I decided to use you guys as motivation and here's the result. I went for the VX look (cos I can't afford an actual VX). The handles were only meant to be temporary but I kinda liked the wood look so made it a theme.

Installed the storage system from the old 90 series into the 150 this weekend. Required extensive mods to its steel frame, considerably more than I expected, anyway majority done with only a few more bits before painting the new frame. Interestingly there is less width to play with in the 150, quite a bit more depth if the 2nd row seats are slid forward.
