  • Diff & gear box breathers 2018 vx

G’day been watching a few you tube videos re diff breathers and for the life of me I damned if I can locate the tops of the breather tubes on my 2018vx... I can’t see any between the fire wall and the back of the engine , nor the one that’s supposed to be under the filter box or the other below the fuse box.. the only one I could find was on the rear diff.

Can any one post some pics of where they’re located on a 2018 model please.

Have a broken thumb at present so getting under and tracing them up is not the preferred option

ps anyone know the thread type an$ size to the breather in the rear diff?

Ive had a good look thru my 2018 GXL.
There's one under the Power Steering Fluid tank which sits between the main fusebox and the engine.
It blends into the various hoses there so you'll need a torch and have a hard look,.
It looks like it leads to the front diff.

I haven't found the rest yet. If anyone else does let us know.

Yep I see the sneaky little buggar , easier seen from the front of the vehicle, than the side, thanks mate. One down!

Have a look from the rhs wheel well. Turn the wheel hard left, stick your head in there with a torch and move the bit of rubber shield out of the way and all will be revealed.. I assume it is no different than any other 2.8. Do a google search for this site. There are quite a few threads. It is doable but fiddly

          Hi 404pug,
RHS wheel (the driver's side) Had a look after unclipping the rubber shield at the back.
Not anything recognisable except maybe way back behind the engine I can just see one or two black mesh covered tubes that disappear upwards.
I cant see em from the top down tho. Are they what you are pointing to?

That's them. They can be got at from underneath if you have ramps. There are pictures on the various threads in both the 150 and 120 sections.

They are actually just hels in a clip and can be pulled sideways out of it so they hang dowm. you can then put joiners in them to get them up higher. If yo get right into the engine bay on the rhs by standing on a milk crate or similar you can juuuuust see them from above.
go to here by googling prado 150 gearbox breathers pradopoint

You don't need to if you follow the steps above. ie. pull the hoses out of the clips on the rhs of the gearbox. Pull towards the right so they hang down low. read #30 as well as the whole 2 pages in this thread. It CAN be done. https://www.pradopoint.com.au/forum/...reathers/page2
