Big shout out to Zordo, set me up with a Bilsteins/Dobinson combo delivered in just a few days.

Fitted on the weekend, had a couple of chats with John as I had a few questions during the day.

Couldn't ask for better service and advice. Thanks again.

    Cheers

I would be keen on a group buy.

Hi, I'm after some advice on a suspension upgrade. I've read through this and a few other threads but don't know anything about suspension so forgive me if I'm asking stupid questions.

I'm based in Perth north of the river.

I've got a 2011 GX with the following additions:
        - ARB bullbar
        - Dual battery system
        - Roof rack
        - Steel side steps

Don't do any towing at the moment but would like to have the option of towing a camper trailer in a few years. Type of driving is mostly city and highway/touring, a bit of beach driving and some general off road stuff but nothing too insane.

Should I be looking at a 2" lift? From what I've read Arnie at Autoride sounds like the go? What should i be asking for? Hoping to get something done for under $2k...

I looked around at a heap of different bits and bobs and decided on outback Armour. An Australian company who sister company do all the suspension for military vehicles in Australia.

              Here's my write up.
              http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...-Airbag-review

I installed it myself in a day. Not hard you just gotta take your time.
I've been almost a year with them in and i'm still grinning. The car has sagged very little and after a recent trip to Kalbarri where we had about 400kg in the car, it was still a pleasure to drive.

Whilst lots of people here will go for brand names which are good, go with what you can afford. The quality of the lower cost brands is still pretty good and if thats what get you out on the track and enjoying your car. I say go for it mate.

              Enjoy

I am running Koni Struts with HD raised King springs and LC105/80 Koni rear shocks with HD raised King springs. The package installed cost $1700 plus wheel alignment. One month on and roughly 2000km it is sitting 795mm in the front and 855mm in the rear.

I have a second battery under bonnet and ARB Summit bar hanging off the front and draws (yet to go in) for the rear.

The ride is good - I wouldn't want to go any softer in the front end. The extra travel from the LC shocks are a good addition and actually cheaper than the Koni Prado 150 shocks.

Hi Blokes, newbie also looking for 2 " lift advice and have been reading so many posts and threads here over the past month. I have the new facelifted 2017/18 Prado 150 GXL and just looking for a lift for ground clearance/articulation. I changed the tyres pre delivery to BFG KO2's, which seem to have given me a bit of a lift already lol.

I'm not going down the Bull Bar/roof rack route and haven't decided whether to look at a 2nd battery down the track and rear draws front Drifta. I plan to tow an off road box trailer at some point but that's the limit to my ambitions!

In the end l'm looking at the Bilstein/Dobinsons combo of Front: BE5-D563 with Dobinsons C59-327 Rear: 24-217897 and Dobinsons C59-350 as above. My question is; would this setup be sufficient or too firm for my intended use? Thanks in advance for your patience and advice.

                    Regards,
                    Greg

Greg - I'm also quite new to this sort of thing however I've decided to go down the track of using Ironman Foam Cell Pro's. They've got 2 types of valving - 1. Medium to firm and 2. Soft/Comfort spec. Especially as in an earlier post from 2016 Whitey was doing a group buy of these and modifying the valving. From anyone I've spoken to these things are pretty decent product.

Some of my mates have them fitted to their Patrols and have nothing bad to say.

I'm also a bit hesitant to buy 2 different components for a suspension setup as when it comes to warranty, I've heard of particular cases where the shock manufacturer blames the coil manufacturer and things go round in circles! Dealing with the 1 company makes it a lot easier. Ironman also seem to have decent customer service from what I've seen so far.

The real success with those shocks was the custom valving developed by Whitey, besides they being built like a brick dunny. I would take little notice of Ironmans standard valving designation (and wouldnt use them myself). Maybe drop him a line and see if he will supply to you.

                            G'day Tailshaft,

Thanks for your input. To be honest I'm a bit dazzled by the amount of technical writing here esp by Whitey and others. I know what you mean about two different components, however, these seem to be a pretty common combination and I'd be more than happy with them as at some point I have to make a decision lol. I'm sure the Ironman's would be fine.

                            Regards,

                            Greg

I found there customer service terrible, I setup a few 4wds from scratch and valving aside my opinion is most of there gear is over priced for its performance / quality

Anyway there the only manufacturer I refuse to use that really does say something
