  • Lovells GVM/GCM upgrade ride quality

Has anyone done the Lovells GVM upgrade? I was looking to do pre-rego on a new prado to get the GCM upgrade as well but unsure how hard the ride would be empty.

    thanks

I had the Lovells GVM upgrade installed on my 2018 GXL to keep it street legal and lift the suspension.

I've since driven the Googs Track, Tanami Road, the very corrugated Gibb River and Kalumburu Roads, plus the remote Carson River Track.
The Lovells kit is a well balanced system and the ride on corrugated roads is infinitely better than any Pajero I've driven.

You should ask for the front sway bar spacer to be included tho'. It wasn't a standard part of the kit when I got it done. It doesn't cost much.
There was an almost negligible gap between my front sway way bar and the spring base on the struts. You won't experience an issue on roads and gravel tracks, but if you drive gnarly sand dunes and scalloped rocky tracks that demand high articulation the sway bar will interfere (marginally) with the struts.
I expect this will likely be an issue with all 2" suspension lifts, but most drivers wont experience the matter if they don't drive heavily scalloped tracks.
Iron Man, Superior Engineering and Lovells have the spacers, just have your Toyota Dealer ask for it when they arrange the GVM Upgrade for you.

    Hope that helps.

I personally find the ride a bit harsh when empty. To a point I keep around 60-80+ Kilo of weight in the very rear nowadays to settle it a bit. Off road when laden and on HWY its great, but definitely bumpy around town.

Yes, my kerb weight is also around 2.8t, - dual wheel carrier, bullbar, winch, drawers. tools and other kit.

thanks for the feedback, I was going for the genuine alloy bar on front however with the GVM upgrade Ill go for the soon to be released AFN bar to put some more weight on the front.

What spring part number do Lovells use in the kit? I'm looking for a lift for my 2019 GXL. I had TFR118 and TRR119 on my 120 series. Didn't have an issue with ride quality. Handled corrugations really well compared to the factory suspension. I'm only after a small lift, 20mm front, 30mm rear, just enough to retain factory unladen height when I load up the car for trips. The factory suspension sits lower at the rear, the side steps measure lower at the back than at the front.

              Go to http://www.lovellsauto.com.au/cats.php
Select their Suspension Kit Catalog and find the Prado 150 GVM Upgrade parts table.
