pretty sure tjm springs are king springs. given king haven't change their springs for the 150, this makes sense.
Aha, another piece to the puzzle. I was wondering why in the King springs catalogue, the same spring was listed for the 120 and 150. So if the 150 is a couple hundred kg heavier than the 120, why are the same springs used?
i would imagine that king don't want to spend the money on the r&d.
i've been told that you have to run the HD springs up front on the 150 to compensate for the extra weight. i've also been told this causes problems when you start adding bars etc.
but then again, the guys on here who have king springs and tjm kits seem to be happy.

gxllouie, I would not add a steel bar with the standard suspension, so you need a boost with something after market. A metallurgist once told me that titanium would be the ideal metal for bull bars: light weight, much stronger than steel, but you would need plenty of money to pay for it.
Have only just had my bar and suspension added, not had time yet to try it out in the rough stuff, apart from a few dirt roads that don't really count.
I see that you have a wish list of an ARB bar. What brand of suspension are you looking at?

hey yowie,
I don't think i was very clear in my last post. what i was trying to say is that the SD King Springs aren't suitable up front on the 150 because of the extra weight over the 120. Therefore, you have to use the HD King Springs up front - that's with no mods to the car. Once you add steel bar, dual battery, winch, etc, then there are no heavier King Spring options to choose from.
As for my choice in suspension... I am definitely leaning towards Kings/Bilstein combo. However, the lack of suitable springs might be limiting. But I haven't made my mind up yet.

I knew what you meant. I chose the HD springs because of the weight of the TJM steel bar, however, I have not fitted a winch, and probably will not. Don't think there are any heavier rated springs about so will have to see how it goes.
As you will see in my previous post of measurements of before and after fitting of the steel bar and springs, the front now sits 20mm higher, while the back sits 50mm higher, and the back has raised, but not HD springs.
We put 5000km on our GXL in the first month. It's got a ful XGS gold setup with poly air in the rear for the XTrak. Having done over 100,000km off road with the same suspension in our 120 I can assure you there is no comparison. The new spring and shock settings make for a much more compliant ride, on and off-road with significantly improved grip in bitumen corners so excellent all round. Our vehicle is heavy; Black widow drawers and fridge slide along with a Kaymar rear bar spare wheel carrier and dual JC holder on the rear and 2x MRV 70 Supercharge batteries (28kg each) a 10,000lb OX electric winch and steel TJM bull bar on the front. So with all that extra weight no problems

Hutch I will try and get some photo's organised when we stop for a minute or two. The TJM boys took a lot of the fitout as it is the most comprehensive one they have done and that's pretty normal as our work cars are fitted with everything so we can train clients and safely lead our tours. So for us a prado with the lot is just normal. But I have to say having spent so much time behind the wheel over the last couple of months I have really warmed to the setup and car. Whilst I note a range of gripes about them I do not have a single problem, apart from perhaps an issue with refuelling that has been mentioned. We plan to fit either the new TJM airlockers or a couple of the e-lockers from Ron Harrop when they are ready. Towing an XTrak is pretty easy for us but a rear diff-lock is almost mandatory for some of the more adventurous work we do
After lots of searching I have preety much decided to go with the Xgs lift, however I am concerned that with a reported 50mm lift in the rear does this cause any issues with getting a correct wheel alignment. any thoughts?
Cheers

I have the xgs lift & have done almost 28000 Km & am very happy with the wheel alignment & the way my BFG A/Ts are wearing.
No problems at all so far.
Thanks Rev, much appreciated it is a tough decision between OME or XGS however I am getting the T13 bar so they are willing to give me a good deal if I get the lift at the same time.
Cheers Matt

I had initially ordered both a T13 bar and XGS suspension but after waiting for 6 weeks and still no shocks available, I had the bar fitted and got ARB suspension fitted (both done this week and tested today ). I am sure the XGS will be great but make sure they can get all of it for you before ordering.
Got some conflicting advice re the TJM XGS. Is a std diesel (no bar or twin batteries) supposed to use the HD front coils. One supplier says yes, other says no....
This is for the 120 series but i think the parts are the same.
cheers
I have just clicked over 50k with mine very happy like new.
Hutch- Prado 150 with some TJM Kit.
